To MUT or not to MUT
on: July 27, 2013, 11:18:17 AM
Anyone else would like to see that "hammer" part of the MUT on some non gun related LMs?
I mean sure I could just get the MUT (and probably will), but I don't have any use for the gun tools...

You would be surprised at how versatile those gun implements can be. I have found lots of uses for both the pin and the carbon scraper. Just because they were designed for one thing doesn't mean they can't be used for other things.

I have used the pin as a probe to reach fallen items in hard to reach places. It has come in handy a time or two for pushing things out of holes as well.

The scraper is useful for scraping things. It is relatively soft, so you won't have to worry about damaging some sub surfaces. I have also used it as a probe depending if I needed that shape. I have even used it once to clean my fingernails of motor oil.

You are only restricted to your imagination. If you get creative, those gun only tools can be used for lots of odd jobs.

I'm glad I got mine ( EOD version ) . The pliers are very strong ( I was constrained to overstress them ), and they held up .

Just think of it as a Skeletool on steroids . The onboard bit holder is much stronger than the Skele . , the pocket clip is among the best I've ever seen .

Very much worth it if you get one. Probably the most versatile LM I own.

The scraper is useful for scraping things.

This is exactly the kind of radical, counterintuitive thinking that makes MTO the best place on the interwebs.  Awesome!

That was one of my first posts here at MTO. A ST300 with the MUT hammer. Still waiting. Im in the same boat as you Aleph78. Im gonna break down and buy one. Then the ST400 will come out with a hammer and hammer drill attachment i've always wanted.

I like the looks of the MUT, and I would love a hammer on my multitool, but I think it's just too big and heavy for my carry.  It's expensive too.  As expensive as a TTi can be.  Plus, I have no guns and don't plan on having any.  I know there can be other uses for the gun related tools, but I don't think it's a tool I can justify buying...yet >:D

Well then, I guess that's the ticket...

MUT is on my "to get list", probably next month or so, and provided I don't win the giveaway, the next one is the OHT

I have officially been corrupted by this forum, shame on you guys
