111mm scales

I love my OHT, but the scales are too slick for my liking. Has anyone ever made custom g10 scales for them? My OHT is currently camo and I'm thinking it could use some orange g10.

I think it has been done, but don't recall offhand exactly when or by whom.

Another option might be to buy another 111mm knife with the dual density scales and then swap the scales.  The dual density have a bit more grip than the standard scales, although I regularly carry a Centurion and I've not personally had a problem with the standard scales.

I made wood (purple heart) ones for an Outrider. The most time-consuming part was getting the hole for the slide lock right. With an OHT, that wouldn't be an issue. I don't think I have pictures, unfortunately, and these days the Outrider is using stock scales again (so I'd be less sad if I wrecked a scale on the job).

I would assume G10 is a lot harder to work with than wood, but I can imagine it looking really nice.

There's a link to it in the first post of the thread bmot linked. Currently on sale but still pricey. cca $40+shipping which they only offer for Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria and France so you'd have to find someone to reship it for you or email them and ask.

Thanks bmot! Exactly what I was looking for.  :tu:

No. You're good. I can settle for black g10. Beggars can't be choosers. I would still prefer orange, but I don't think I have the skills to make them myself.

Yeah, as amazing as fibreglass is, I pretty much try not to work with it when at all possible.

Well after starting this thread I got a hair up my ass. What started as a camo OHT is now black. It's smooth, but is no longer slick in hand. I was never fond of the camo anyway.
