Hello!
on: October 10, 2013, 02:46:34 AM
Not exactly my first post, but I'm definitely new here, and glad to be here as well. I've lurked on MT.O on and off in the past, but have only posted in response to a few sale posts.

I'm here because of my rekindled love of Victorinox SAKs, and because MT.O seems like the place to be for when it comes to these knives. Growing up in the 80's, I was very much into swiss army knives. I remember my first was a tinker, and later on by the 5th and 6th grades, the Swiss Champion was THE swiss army knife to own. The Explorer was also another favorite of mine as well as the 1980's Alox Soldier and Farmer.

Other SAKs that I like are the Tinker, Super Tinker, Explorer, and the Champion. I am also interested in eventually picking up a few others including the Swisstool Spirit X, and the Hunter Pro lockback. I like that swiss army knives are the easiest knives/multi-tools to collect or acquire because there are so many of them and at bargain prices. For the money, it's hard to beat the value of a good SAK!

I also like traditional slipjoint folding knives made by companies such as Great Eastern Cutlery, Case, and Opinel, but my first love of knives starts with Victorinox.

Here are some shots of my newly acquired Alox...

Welcome to the forum! Saks are a wonderful thing to collect. Not to mention it is a functional collection too. Great saks!

Thats unfortunate to hear about the Hunter Pro because I've been wanting to see a traditional lockback from Victorinox for a while now. In any case, it definitely wasn't at the top of my wants list.
