Here is my new to me PA, with huge thanks to John (kirk13). I realise these are not everybodys cup of tea but I love this thing  :D Here it is shown next to my Swisstool. The standard of finish is very high indeed and the whole tool feels high quality. The assisted opening took a moment or two to get used to but works as intended and interestingly there is next to no bladeplay which seems to have been widely reported. The cutters work well on both stranded and hard wire and overall what's not to like? It's quirky and different in a good way  :) On a side note it has hex bolts instead of the newer fasteners and a polished as opposed to satin finish. Would anyone be able to take a guess at age or country of origin?

I like the looks of the Power Assist. I wouldn't mind adding one to my collection.

It's an unexpected addition to my little MT family and it has been referred to as a "red haired stepchild" that bites, but I like it  :D

Glad it's good a fan  :tu:

When I was playing with one at the meetup (John's?) I didn't really get on with it and found it a bit scary to use! By the time I'd taken the safety off and flicked the blade I might as well have just had a decent OHO blade.

Mine is very similar, polished like yours with the old hex bolts.  Unfortunately mine has a little blade play, not too much as the awful Power Duo does, but far more than I'd be happy with on a quality folding knife and more than the $30 made in USA Buck I just bought.

I love showing off and playing with the PA, but when time comes to get to work it goes back into the box.

Mine's 4 or 5 years old I think and I'll bet a fiver that the country of origin is China, same as my PowerLock which is even a year or two older than that.

Do you intend using yours or is it just a showpiece?

I'd be very interested in your opinion after a few weeks of use.

Or even a 30 day challenge?
