It reminds me of my Maxped single sheath when new; sounded as if  my trousers were ripping!

My haul. Not sure what I want to make yet. The thickness of the ST’s philips and sight tool has me guessing.

Thanks Juan! I haven’t had to use the wire cutters yet, but wanted an infused wire cutter head just in case the replaceable cutters suck. I also prefer the blade from that one. If I do start swapping tools it will have to go into the ST. That long philips is a must. Not sure what could replace the sight tool though. Open to suggestions from anyone who has been here before.  :)

Don't worry much about the cutters, unless you plan to use them as your primary cutters (which I wouldn't recommend), or back ups (which I wouldn't recommend either!); mines have been fine for copper wires (electronics, house wiring, both single and multistranded), and steel wires for up to cloth hanger; for cloth wire, I notch it with the cutters and then use the pliers to "bend-cut it" . Not a single nick or shattered cutter. Mind you that I may use them once or twice  weekly. If you're mindful of what they were adapted for, you'll enjoy them for long.

Having said that, until Gerber makes replacement cutters out of tool steel or 154cm SS, my integral cutters will be the best of Gerber's.

Roc, how about exchanging the sight tool for a saw blade exchanger? Or scissors and an awl? Or ...I'll let others chime in now.

Thanks for the feedback on the cutters! I guess I can just switch the plier head out when needed. I only use them for stranded copper, so I think I’ll be safe either way.
I do like the idea of a saw blade exchanger. I’d use that a lot at work, but an awl and scissors would be used just as much. Time to think.

Was gonna make the bit myself to remove the tools, but came across this video. It’s kinda long, but the tool they use seems to work pretty well.

Well...the carbon scraper works for me as an awl. For what I use it for anyway. Scissors are on hand no matter where I’m at. Looks like I’m gonna have to find a donor for a saw blade exchanger. Need to put a file in there somewhere though.

Swapped out the wharn blade for the older version blade. Surprisingly easy to do.

Got sick of the sight tool catching on my sheath when I’d go to put it back in after use. Decided to replace it with a file and another small flat driver.  Worked out pretty well.

Nice job, Roc!  :tu:
Have you considered grinding an angle to the tip of one of the small flat driver and make a "mini awl"? That way, you get a "new" tool in the set.

I thought about that Juan, but I use an awl for starting holes for screws in wood. That’s it. The carbon scraper works great for that. It’s something I will consider if a greater need should arise though.

Thank you, Chief. As long as it's a workday, it has to be bladeless. Liking the ability to exchange saw blades! :like:

Here's to present my bladeless multiplier with lanyard ring!
Yes, I like having a lanyard ring; I'll use it every time I go up on the roof or a ladder, or where it might become hazardous if it were to fall.
Having said that, I DESPISE  having rings taking up valuable tool space (here's to Mr Pinchy, and any MP600 for that matter!), so I took upon copying the LTG's Wave et. al./Surge series alternative: an inconspicuous, unobstrussive, and elegant way to incorporate one.
My ring rides over the captive end of the female pivot, between handle and can/bottle opener.
Hope you people like it!

How rare are the mp600s with awls? I know the fisherman is a hard find, but occasionally I’ve seen a couple of regular mp600s without the small driver, with an awl in its place. How rare are these in silver? Or black oxide?

Charles.

Not all that rare. It is the Sportsman version of the 600. Uncommon, but not rare. The Sportsman is often overlooked by collectors though.
