On a 91mm, are there any tools that can share a spring with a 3d Phillips other than the magnifier or led light? I have the shorter version 3d Phillips that came out of a Spartan Lite. Thanks!

Electrician with scissors




There's a bit of a mark on the shield scale near the cap lifter pivot where I slipped with the dremel, but otherwise I'm very happy with this one.  I might swap the scales if I can be bothered, but this is a user for me.  Very good snap on all tools (except the scissors, but that's to be expected if you're using a Solo spring) and it went together easily.

I'm not an expert but I've been doing some research around the inline phillips and on 91mm the light and magnifier are the only things that will fit I've ran across. There are probably exceptions for modified tools, such as a custom shortened or reprofiled flathead/bottle opener. Now, the newer stubby inline will sit opposite the bottle opener or can opener (or both) on a 93mm from what I've seen.

Good luck! The inline phillips is a cool tool!

My first mod, a Cybertool 36: Cybertool 34 minus pliers, plus metal file and back-side small screwdriver.  It took me all afternoon to do it but I'm happy with the result.

IIRC there have been a few mods made with teh Wenger wrench across the Phillips - I don´t know hoa intricate teh workinvolved is, but I think I remember hanksolon did a few mods like that.

To handyman I did add philips:


It starts to be quite close to swisschamp. Though different oder of tools and I think one layer missing vs swiss champ. Still add scales and this I keep. Maybe carry more often as well.

Yes its very hard to photograph Ti well.  The best luck I have is with natural light outdoors, but not too bright of light.

Those are nice, and good to have step by step pics. I again started to mess with the tools and planning scales. Hardest part was to locate correct size riverts and first layers (specially screw driver / opener layer was quite tight to set up). Now used original scales still:

Pics tomorrow I pomise... Tore an ebay Swisschamp apart today, removing the metal saw and fish scaler layers. Basically made an Explorer with wood saw, which I am sure has a name I'm not familiar with. Was going to make a Yeoman with saw, but the Champ's opener layer is where the lanyard attachment point is... This could become fun. And expensive... Brass rods incoming, brought my vise, hammers, and dremel home from work on Friday. 1x30 belt grinder coming home this week. Trolling for more donors...

Edit- Pliers came out too...  duh.  :)

I did continue to next slim scissor prototype. Added layer but still quite slim:





Getting to be close to get friend for supertool. Vic "leather". Though don't know how well leather will last on scale.

Another Deluxe Explorer:







I've tried to keep this vaguely period correct with an older Explorer - thicker blade with plain liners, keyring on the small blade spacer, grooved corkscrew, grey mag/longer phillips, screwed scissors with no hook and gen II pliers.  The order isn't how Victorinox would do it though, I've swapped the pliers and phillips/magnifier layer to make the phillips easier to use.
