Figured I should post this one as I was chatting with the lads about it at the weekend..

Despite its different tool set I still class it as being a Scientist derivation.  Perhaps the Illuminated Scientist  bit dull.

Very, very nice Neil. :salute:  I can see why you still think of it as a Scientist as well, it certainly makes sense to me.  How about the "Photonologist"? ;)

Is it really badly over peened :(   You can often save them if its just a bit too tight.

What tools are you putting in it?

A big blade, magnifying glass and phillips. That's it :D

I don't want bits sticking out of the back.

It probably could have been saved, if I hadn't hurled it at the garage door.  :P  The liners are a bit bent.

I promised Tinnie I would post some pics of the work he has done on some scales for me.  This is the Tinker I was carrying when Liam was born, so it has my dads birthday, my birthday, and Liam's birthday on one side, and the other has all three of our names. This is the second front scale he has made for me because he wasn't satisfied with the first.  This is the newer scale.  The older scale went to on an older Explorer for my sister that she is getting today for her birthday.

What a great way to make a SAK an heirloom.  Ill bet you can't wait to pass it on to Liam.

That is a really nice idea Zack. Definitely something I would want to pass down to my son. And great work on Tinnie's behalf.

Tinnie does some great work, can't wait for my sis to get hers (she lives in Mass and its out for delivery today).  Our dad passed away 14 years ago come October, and I thought she would like the personal touch.

Back to the bail.   or is it bale, I never could decide.

This is an ongoing experiment to see if replacing the pin in 93mm SAKs with a tube is reliable.  So far so good but I still wouldn't be prepared to let one out of my hands as yet.  Perhaps next year if all still looks good.

My EDC Farmer and a Farmer minus opener layer, both are my SAKs of choice if I'm off for a woodland walk.

Anyone else done the same with good or bad results?

Lovely job Neil  :tu:

I'm interested to hear how that tube holds up to more abuse.
