Sog help needed , its in bits
on: June 17, 2008, 04:17:53 PM
I ordered a V-cutter for my powerlock to replace the scissors but Heinnie Haynes sent me a line cutter instead. I thought I'd keep it but when I installed it , it was for the older powerplier and had no notch for the lock :( I have found a thread about it since on here  ::) So I phoned them up and they said no probs send it back and we will send you the right V-Cutter . Just got an email saying they can't source one and have refunded my money . So can someone show pics please of how to put the scissors back in and also the correct position of the two washes please .

I'm not a happy bunny  :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

I don't know about the washers but I've got pics of the instruction sheet for the scissors on the way in just a minute.

Photobucket is down, I'll attach the pictures to the post. Sorry this is the best I can do, I installed the scissors on a Paratool and not a Powerlock.

Are the two washers the thick kind? Since the scissors is not the same thickness as other implements I think they're for taking up the slack and making everything fit. You should just be able to put them on the outside of one of the handles and it should function fine?

Well I don't think I put it together right . The tools were in the right place but the washers werent and caused the tools to lean a little . This was also noticed by a member ( cant remember who ) at the meetup . So when I got home I took it to bits again then got fed up with trying to get the scissors in  >:(

Tonight I just remembered it and had another go , I think I got it right this time  :D

Before I put a drop of loctite on the thread and do it up to the right tension does this look right ?    I put the two washers , one at each end against the frame

No it still wasnt right  >:( The 1/4 inch bit adapter was catching on the bottle opener . Took it to bits again and move one of the washers to go between these two tools . Loctite applied right tension on the tools , blade sharpened and a little oil added to the joints  :D Looks like it could be back in service soon  :D
