I found this quite interesting to watch, showing the factory of Fontenille Pataud, a producer of Laguiole knives :tu:

Enjoy :)

I love the Laguiole knives, I really wish they would make a UK legal version, that would replace the cadet or spartan i usually carry

Always wanted one but the real deals are freakin expensive, $100+ and can easily double or triple that.  :-[

I think they have some UK legal. That's non-locking and under a certain length, right?... Look around, you'll find it.

I think (at least for Fontenille Pataud, but probably for most manufacturers) that they usually are too long. Maximum length in the UK is 7.62cm (3 inch). The smallest that FP makes is 9 cm.

The 9cm Laguiole that I got from actiforge http://www.couteau-laguiole.com/en/ has a blade length of 7.5 cm. same knife from amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B007NKPB3Q/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1407686591&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40
It's at the cheaper end of the genuine French made Lags, but the fnf is great, and it is solid with lifetime warranty. With the slim profile, the 9cm knife is very small, and looks almost dainty. I'll try and post some comparison pics later.

Great video by the way! That's how things should be made.
And I forgot one of these for smashie  :pok:
This is the one I bought http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B007NKOBHI/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?qid=1407687940&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX110_SY165
9cm closed length, as they're hand made there is slight variation in size, but average blade length is 7.5cm. UK legal carry  :pok: you won't be disappointed.

Here's the 9cm horn handled Laguiole from Actiforge, next to a super tinker.
