Flea market finds
on: August 04, 2008, 03:26:48 PM
Found a couple of good buys this weekend at Canton Texas market. Man was it hot out there. 102 degrees and full sunshine. I'm a paleskin redhead so i was runnin for cover every now and then! :o

Found an SOG CrossCut still in its package for 5 bucks and a BearJaws with a rather nice case for 10 bucks.

Guy had a Craftsman multitool, a two pack Cresent multi with a smaller micra-like multi in it, two other BearJaws and a few current model Leathermans in his case. Had a Charge Al for 50 bucks brand new. I was broke this time so i had to pass.

Anyway here is the loot i picked up.

Pusskins doesn't care for having his pic taken

Well I'm off to a car boot sale on Sunday, for which I have to get out of bed at 6:30am. I am not impressed but she is making me do it. I am consoling myself with the thought that I might find a bargain of some kind there. Your finds give me hope pacu - thanks!
I used to come here a lot.

Off topic question:  does "flea market" sound as strange to you Brits as "car boot sale" sounds to us Yanks? :P

Now that I have enlightened myself @ wikipedia on the subject I think car boot sale is a better term if you know that a car boot is a car trunk (american english) sounds better than a flea market as well :D But It won't stop me from going to flea markets anyway ::)

Car boot sale? Do you sell the stuff in your boot? Car jack, jumper cables, Debbie Gibson cds, and a Burger King whopper wrapper?

It's tough trying to find any interesting flea markets locally, there's still a few but it seems to be mostly the low grade variety store merchandise that's sold.Up until about 15 years ago,the most unusual things could be bought and sold at the local flea markets.

But it does take the fun out of poking through boxes and finding some good finds, and just walking around and seeing with your own eyes some unique if not downright bizarre things for sale.About 20 years ago I bought a Vic Mauser ,complete with box and papers for 10 dollars, because it wasn't a Solingen or Case knife.
