This wasn’t a military unimog, it first life was on the City Communal Service, they used it for Winter Service (that’s the reason the Spare Tire Holder god so many rust, whe had to need it to change and as it’s also holds the Battery Compartment, whe now have a Battery Compartment Holder whitout Spare Tire Holder..

The good thing is like I said, they put a new Engine in, which works pretty good, and this is the 406 whit the bigger Roof Opening

Anything that helps other road users see you is a good thing  :tu:  :tu:   :tu:

Which is why I cold never get on board the "everything matt black" fad (let alone dark tints on tail/brake lights & turn indicators)

As big as my bike is, if they don't see me, they gotta be Mr Magoo.

As for the Hi Viz helmet, I think you need to add a rotating light on top...haha

Not quite

But as a car driver too, I must say, as this is the thing on bikes, or rather bikers, that sticks out above a row of cars (well... most cars) it always attracts my attention.

Everything matt black - I can see the aesthetic appeal for some, but agree it isn't conducive to safety.

As to tinted tail/brake lights/indicators, I'm of two minds. Current LED lighting is quite bright enough not to lose too much luminosity when shining through moderate amounts of tinting. And what I note on e.g. clear lenses often used with modern LED units (indicators especially) is that on sunny days the sun shines right through the lenses onto the innards and makes it difficult to distinguish between the unlit and lit states (especially on cheap low-powered, yet miraculously still approved units) - this seems to happen a little bit less on tinted units. Could be me.
Anyway, for now I'm keeping my lights on the Guzzi stock (old school incandescent) but I may go LED in future (at the expiry of the warranty :D).
Cheers!

I would have no problem if owners always increased the lumens (light output) of the globes/LEDs to compensate for the reduction in visible output caused by the tint, but from my observations very few bother to do that.  I was behind a tastefully modded Honda Prelude the other day, and his rear lights were so darkly tinted I could hardly see his brake lights coming on.  He will get rear-ended one day because a following driver won't notice he has suddenly put his brakes on, and he will almost certainly blame the other driver when it is he that has caused the problem.

No offense taken Greg :tu:

In further news, today I have added fog lights and a hazard warning light circuit to the bike. Beats me why, in this day and age, Moto Guzzi sees the latter as unnecessary and elects to omit it from the V7-III (but not from all other bikes they sell). So I built one myself. Good thing I know the basics in auto/bike electrics and can handle a soldering iron and plug crimping pliers :D

G'Day,

Sydney is enjoying the start of spring with some fantastic days. I have been on a few short rides in the last few weeks.

Last week I took the scenic way to work via one of our many ferry crossings around greater Sydney. This one is called Berowra Waters. Plenty nice boats around too and a cool coffee shop for a break. The ferry masters give bikes priority too!!! We always disembark first to get ahead of the cagers up into the good squiggly roads.

Still loving the R9T. I have had it for just over 14 months and it clocked 25K kms over this morning. This bike is a hoot to ride!!!

Cheers, Pete
