For everyone that's put down a DoohicKey tool, a short story.

This past weekend, my daughter asked if I wanted to go to an air show at a nearby Air Force Base.  Of course, yeah.  When we got there I was told; no knives and the like.  So my multitool, SAK, anything with a blade had to stay in the truck.
Well, wouldn't you know that a screw came loose on the wheel of my wheelchair.
After a little bit of thinking I remembered that I keep a DoohicKey Plus on my keyring.
Couple minutes later I was rolling along purdy as ever.

The Doohickey Plus is a huge improvement over the "classic" model. I bought one about a week ago, and have used pretty much all the additional features already. And I don't even keep it on my keys--it's usually carried loose next to a small folding knife around the house.

I lost my keys, but eventually found them. I rebuilt the set to be as lightweight as possible, and haven't gone back to the old set. Current setup--Nite Ize G-Series as the carabiner. I can no longer use it in the same way as I did the 200 lb. rated carbiner I had (which had been used to close chains before), but it does the job its intended to do without much size and bulk. I'm lucky I have a 25 year old truck (in two months, I can get a much cheaper "antique" plan from Hagerty as the truck was built in July 1997, and is a 1998 model) which means no stupid fob or heavy, oversized key. I can replace it for less than $5.

The red key was intended to be the house key, but I ended up selecting the wrong one. It does the same job as the pink boot did, in making my keys more visible.

Tools are Olight i1R2 in "desert tan" and Proto's J-100. A sliver i1R2 is swapped in when the other is charging, and vice versa.

The Proto J-100 is a modern interpretation of the "classic" advertising item from many years ago. Since the '90s, a rebadged Stanley design had been used, but in 2017 Proto released a redesigned version. I didn't know they had it until going over a catalog two years later.

It's super thick!

Problem is, they're hard to get. Fastenal, despite selling Proto items in-store here, doesn't have them, and would have to special order them for me. People charge stupid prices on eBay. Since I had to go online anyway, I got mine from Grainger for about $6. It's a surprisingly low price, as it's US-made; but around the cost of the quite cheaply made Nite Ize Doohickey, despite being TWICE as thick!

I love it as a large screwdriver and a pry tool. I actually had to take it off my keys and hit it with a hammer in a pinch once, and it barely even scratched. I think these are made from a proper tool steel, like D2.

That is a thick pry tool.  They got the heat treat on the steel right for sure.    :like:

The little Spydie Bug is really inexpensive.  The Honey Bee is a bit bigger and not much more to buy.  :)

Just removed three keys from my keyring.  None of which I have used in years.  Only two of them I can actually remember what they are for, the third one is a mystery.

I only have one actual key on my ring now.  My house key rides along with my keyless Dodge fob and a small nanolight.

I mark my keys with their use.  Most of them are made of brass so it is easy to engrave them using an old Dremel engraving tool.

Since now I use a keyfob and not keys, I have a LM brewzer, SAK Classic BoA edition, work locker key, house key and my homemade paracord lanyard (about 3in) with a clip if I need to clip to pants or other object.

Keys, carfob, pill fob, olight, SAK.  The FreeKey and mini S-BINERS allow easy addition and removal of items and modifications.

Sometimes I will add one or more of the following:
Mini Sharpie
Fox whistle
Nite Ize Doohickey
LM Micra
Mini retractable tape measure
Keychain microfiber pouch

Pill fobs are a important part, but one little key point, “movement” if your pills are loose and you move around or toss your keys, or just by simple everyday sitting down and standing up, if your pills are loose and move around over time they will turn to powder! One thing you can do is use is cotton balls, if you are storing like a morning and nighttime dosage, put cotton in first then the dose, then another layer of cotton, then the dose, and then cap it off with cotton, thus giving it no play, the cotton will absorb the shock and stop the pills from turning into powder over time,,

I put a tiny Trit vial next to the ti whistle. I removed the SOG knife eventhough it's a key as I usually have a Spartan or Explorer with me.

So glad to put the (current) "full" tool ring back on today, after going to a concert last night (W.A.S.P. supported by South of Salem – amazing!) and having to leave it all at home:

My new Alox MiniChamp, Leatherman Brewzer, Leatherman BtN #10, Nite Ize DoohicKey and the ever-present safety pin!
