POLL Do you carry a SAK or other knife with your multitool?

I personally only carry my Swisstool X in my jeans pocket, i have tried to carry a dedicated folder with it but it didn't feel right to have two knifes with me because one will do the job just fine.

Let me hear what you carry, where you store it and how you carry it

I always pocket carry a SAK. My Spirit sits in my office in case I need it around the site and I'll pop in a backpack when I go out - As it's a locking blade I only take it places I can justify having it.

I always sheath carry my MT and pocket carry either a SAK or Folder in my pocket with a clip or hanger.

if it weren't for the "random checkups" by the boys in blue I'd be really confused since there is usually a SAK and a folder in my pocket and an MT in my jacket or backpack

Usually a SAK in my pocket and a multi in my bag/coat unless I'm actively doing 'stuff' in which case the multi goes in my pocket too.  Occasionally just the multi in my pocket, no SAK.

Carry all three whether on person or in a bag. Sometimes the job calls for more than one tool at a time.

I often pocket carry a MT and a SAK or a dedicated folder.  Sometimes I carry all three.  I do this because if all I need is to cut something it is easier to get a blade into play out of a knife than out of a MT and I don't have a lot of patience.  I carry the SAKs for complimentary tools such as the scissors that are missing from most MTs or single blade folders.

Although I have done some experimenting with sheaths such as combining a Buck Paklite Skinner or Myerchin rigging knife with a Leatherman wave (survey didn't offer the option of EDC fixed blade) I find that I don't care much for belt protrusions that catch on things.

Since joining this community I find myself carrying and enjoying my SAKs more often without also carrying a dedicated folder.  I appreciate the SAK as a marvel of engineering and it no longer seems as important to me that it is a little slower to deploy.  I still need the pliers based tool though so one of them is always on me or close by.

I always carry a multitool in a sheath on my belt, I switch between a Spirit, a Swisstool, a Rebar, a Supertool 300, a Surge or a Leatherman OHT.  But I always carry my trusty red Swisschamp in my pocket, hanging on a Victorinox belt clip, along with the multitool on my belt.

The Swisschamp just has everything you need to fill in some of the gaps the other multitools have (scissors on the Rebar/ST300/OHT, a phillips with "long" reach for when I carry the Surge, and it also has the little extras like a pen, tweezers, toothpick, magnifying glass, needle, corkscrew, ...).   

Leaving my Swisschamp at home next month is going to be the hardest thing about Obi1shinobee's "Official MTO BLAST/WAVE/CHARGE MID-SIDE MARCH-MADNESS CHALLENGE"  .  (But I'm really looking forward to this challenge on the other hand  ).

Sheath carry a MT and SAK in pocket.  I used to also carry a dedicated blade as well.  I recently went back to a dedicated blade but not everyday.

I always carry a sak in either in my pocket or on a clip in my pocket, depending on how many layers.  I don't always carry a MT but when I do I will put it in a back pack if I have the pack with me, otherwise I will sheath carry it on a belt.

I used to carry a dedicated folder like one of my Spydie's but haven't in a long time.

Most of the time it depends on what I am doing to what I want with me.  Most of the time, my urban carry is just a sak though!

I use a TC1 pouch to carry my phone,
If I carry a Wave in pocket, a Mercater would do in TC1 for food prep.
If I carry a Spirit in TC1, a folder is a must in pocket.

These two setups work the best for me.

Yes and no...

Scissors: The scissors on a Charge/Wave and many other MTs are a joke
Awl: The pioneer awl kicks butt, whereas the Wave has no awl
CT-bit-holder: well depending on your MT that is a great addition

So yes, I mostly agree but there are several weaknesses your MT might sport that can easily be addressed by a SAK (or another MT).
