Spyderco Byrd?
on: March 09, 2016, 05:41:23 PM
I have been looking to replace my worn-out old Utica-made Klein Hawkbil.   I'm thinking about just getting another Klein, but I recently came across this one for $20 from Spyderco's Chinese-made Byrd line, which differs from my old Klein in the fact that it has one-hand opening, a pocket-clip, and a feature especially invaluable for using the knife to clear brush--a fully serrated blade.

While I don't own one, I hear Spydercos are excellent knives.  How does the Byrd line compare to the regular Spydercos?

Overall, they seem to be knives as you can see in the other thread

There was another thread about this as well. I expressed my dislike for the Byrd line.

Horses for courses. They (?) are nice knives indeed. At least if I can deduct this from my only Byrd, a Tern. G10 handle/liners with reasonable grip, pocket clip can be changed for LH and RH users, good blade shape, good size. What's not to like for the price tag? Admitted. I am more of a SAK guy (just for the versatility), but I carry my Tern everyday, as non-locking OHO has its advantages and utility...
