Newer wave pivot screw size?
on: March 15, 2016, 06:41:22 PM
Hello,

Originally posted this question in Gerneral forums.  Was told to ask here.

Im looking to replace my newer Wave pivot screws.  Im talking to a guy at knifekits and he need to know the size of the screws.

Does anyone know what size those newer Wave pivot screws are? Or does anyone have any recommendations where I can buy new pivot screws?

Thanks.

Although the heads are smaller, I happen to know for a fact that the screws from a Wingman or Sidekick will work in place of the standard Wave pivot screws. I dont know the size though...

They will not sell them seperately. You are supposed to send in defective tools for (warannty) repair work.
Maybe check out this thread:

You might want to PM Loki, he seems to have a load of parts.

Good luck!

That's what I was afraid of.  Hate to be without my Wave for a few weeks because of a screw.  I'd sooner just cut some slots into the screw and save my warranty for something more damaging.

I actually have a blade coming from Loki that I ordered.  Didn't think about asking him about the pivot screws.  I'll shoot him a PM and see what he says.

Appreciate the info and suggestion.  Thanks!

Alright.  Got a reply from Leatherman just now.  here's the message -

Me:
"Hello,
Do you guys sell the new model Wave pivot screws.  Specifically the saw/serrated blade side.  Mine is stripped and I need to buy a new one to replace it.

Thank you, Danny"

Stephanie Evans (Leatherman)
Hello Danny,
Thank you for contacting Leatherman Tool Group. Normally for a screw you would need to send the whole tool in for warranty but, if you have the tools (S torx 8) to be able to replace the screw I will send you out the pivot screw. I just need your address and I will get that out for you. Have a great day!

Very nice of them to send the screws to me.  Not to mention.. Free!  I was looking everywhere for them!

Anyways, just wanted to post an update.

Thank guys.
