The little washer thing is the lanyard attachment point :tu:

I take it it's meant to be bent up?

Yes , although I've been known to bend them down so they don't catch on stuff.

Excellent work OP, looks great. Once again, a testament to how well these things are made (particularly the older ones) that they can be restored so well.

Probably why they went away from them and went with the internal swivel type ones

I have been one or two out the way myself  :D

OK, here we go...

Firstly, the plier tips are broken:

 > I will file them off level

Not sure if you can see very well in this pic but the wire cutters have a little chunk out on either side:

 > Not much I can do about it

The pliers are sloppy. They can go from this:

To this:

 > I will give them a smack with a hammer.

Just for Poncho....

Handle 1:

- Serrated Knife Blade  > Ummm....
- Can Opener/Bottle Opener  > Broken off
- Phillips Screwdriver  > Good
- Small Flathead Screwdriver  > Broken off, still useable if squared off with a file
- Saw  > Needs sharpening, otherwise OK

Handle 2:

- Plain Kinfe Blade  > Broken off
- Awl  > Broken off, perhaps I can reshape it and get something useable
- Medium Flathead Screwdriver  > A little worn, could be squared off with a file
- Large Flathead Screwdriver  > A little worn, could be squared off with a file
- File  > A little worn, not much I can do about it

- Dog  > needs a pat

Many of the tools don't lock - this is because the lock has worn or broken off in places:

 > I don't think I can fix this

I had better wrap this up....

Well the flat screwdriver didn't work too well:

I did what filing I could...

... including the plier tips;

Anyway, here's what I bought from sLaughterMed:

... and here's his Super Tool with tools from mine in it to make it complete:

So let's hope the tools from mine aren't too brittle. I will try to sharpen the saw. Maybe I should replace the worn file.

That brittleness, along with the severe rust makes me wonder if  the reason it was so rusty was that it came into contact with high heat or some really strong chemical.

My question is, is how the heck does a saw get that dull?  It looks like the original owner sawed bricks!
