We've been getting a bit of rain and a bit of hail.

Which is perfectly amusing if one is staying warm and dry inside......

Besides the fact that I am dying to get home to open my parcel from Robert...there is nothing pressing.

Made it to our half-way destination. Wet roads, a few flurries, but otherwise uneventful drive. Second leg tomorrow... yay.

Hey....anyone around?

I've got the radio tuned to WUMB out of Boston.  Nice mix of Folk and Blues this evening.

WUMB

Odd little day, but I did get to make some chili, and that makes it a good day by any measure.

It's been a little quiet in here.

I'm planning on showing up for the Saturday night Blues show on Jazz FM91.

I spoke with the Speakeasy bartender. He's recommending the venerable Daiquiri, a cocktail steeped in Navy tradition, to celebrate Spring and the Blues.  Not the frozen slushy thing, but a real Navy Daiquiri.

Navy Daiquiri

There wasn't a great recipe in that article, so I dug this one up:

Quote

Daiquiri

The daiquiri, which made its formal debut in the United States at Washington's Army and Navy Club in 1909, is a fairly simple drink. The more familiar slushy version was created by a Havana bartender, who added crushed ice.

Makes 1 Cocktail

Ingredients

1 1⁄2 oz. dark rum
Juice of 1⁄2 lime
1 tsp. simple syrup

Instructions
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add rum, lime juice, and syrup. Shake well, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Even easier:

Quote

2 1/2 oz aged rum
3/4 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz simple syrup

Shake with ice. Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass

First daiquiri made with 2.5 oz rum, 1.5 oz of a grapefruit & lime juice blend, and 1/2 oz simple syrup. All shaken with lots of ice.

Served the daiquiri with some spiced peanuts: dry roasted peanuts toasted in a skillet with a little peanut oil. When hot, added cayenne pepper, black pepper, and Cajun seasoning mix.

My mouth is on fire, but that daiquiri seems to have things under control.  :tu:

Hey, IPA makes a fine beverage with the Blues.

Especially now that it's hot and everything.

I think we all have a 'Grail knife' somewhere in the deep recesses of our imaginations. That special knife that would be the one featured in the movie of our lives. For me, that knife has to be the mythical "Farmer X" or "FieldHunter", as I call it.

Well, I corresponded with Syph007, and he has agreed to build me this mythical knife. It won't be cheap, but he has a plan.....and, maybe....one day....I'll have my 'Grail SAK'.

It’s pricey dealing with Syph, but worth every penny...

You can ask him to build you a “Copperhead”...
