Well, I have made the decision - This coming fall, I will be moving to Arizona. Any MTO folks in the state?

Several years ago, on a motorcycle trip to New Mexico, I fell in love with the Southwestern US. Since then I have gone back multiple times each year to the West. in 2016, I had decided to look into moving the the Santa Fe NM area, but decided to stay in Arkansas because of family. However, my best friend (more like a brother) made the decision to pull up stakes and move to Southeastern Arizona where a mutual friend of ours had moved two years before. Since he moved, I have gone to visit many times, and David and Mike have repeatedly tried to convince me to move.

I finally decided that it was time for a new adventure. I made the decision that I would move out there and try starting all over. I am pretty excited about it...and honestly, not a bit nervous (I was VERY nervous about moving the Santa Fe). I will be able to officially retire early (I will be 49 in Sept, and retired!) and will head out there. The plan is to spend the rest of my days on my Harley, visiting as many places in the United States as I can see. I have started to compile my list of places and things I want to see and I can hardly wait to get there!

Well I hope everything works,
My grandparents traveled the world being in service, station to station, for 27 yrs, once in Texas only like 5 miles from the Alamo yet never visited it, after that he spent 20yrs at Yale university to finally retire, they sold the house and car, bought a trailer and truck and traveled the U.S. for 6yrs since the never saw any of it but kept going back to Mesa Arizona, a little outside of Phoenix, and decided to settle in a little retirement park, every summer during schools summer vacation I used to fly out and spend a month, I loved it, little hot but no sweat! You just didn’t do anything outside between 10-2 in the sun cause you’d roast, yet when getting up in the morning to go play golf with the old man id walk out on the porch without a shirt and just a pair of shorts enjoying it as hes dragging the clubs out screaming at me to run in, you’ll get sick, as he’s in what looked like winter wear because it was 60deg out, lol, but one of the best part are the pools, that sun boils that pool water during the day, but once that sun sets and the outdoor temp gets warm/cooler that pool water was still warm! I’ll never forget that!

Funny you should say this Dale, I was just looking at property in Quartzsite, Arizona a few days ago.  I wouldn't mind retiring to the desert either, at least as a winter home!

Maybe one of these days we'll be neighbors!   :D

I thought about retiring to AZ a little higher in the mountains like 4500 to 5500 ft above sea level.  Then I saw NC and some gorgeous property there.  I'd love to get a travel trailer like MadPs grandparents and hit the road.

I thought about getting a trailer for the bike. I call it and two wheel RV. I actually like primitive motorcycle camping. A tent or even a tarp does the trick most of the time.

Been prepping for my move a little bit this last week. Nothing big, I am just gathering info I need and packing up some non-essential stuff so I can clear space in my apartment and have it ready to load up. The moving truck (if I have them add a car hauler) will be roughly $1000.

Now all I have to do is convince a few people from the forum here to join me in Arizona so we can all meet up for some bushwhacking, camping and hunting trips!

I spoke to my buddy out there and he has been scouting out some elk and deer hunting areas for us. I have him doing some light searching for a place out there that has a workshop so that he and I can set up our reloading, gunsmithing and knifesmithing shop. Hopefully when I go out for my month-long stay this summer, I can go ahead and get a place to have waiting for me in September. Ahhh, I can't wait!
