:tu: was nice to see more of the orders filled outside the US.

What does everyone think of the Red/Glow freebies?

I got half of my reward in the color and feel like a dumbsmurf. Oh, well.

I've got my lot in orange and I think it glows very well and lasts the whole night.

I've not yet tried the red freebie. I'll have look  :salute:

Jupp... the red one does not glow very bright and quickly looses the effect  :dunno:

 Thanks for the pics. I think it they would have been better off leaving the glow pigment out and trying to match the red better.  :dunno:

Yeah, no problems with any of the original three colors. All last until sunrise for me so they do their job IMO. Green is brightest, blue next and orange is still good and functional glowing. But I don’t think I could find the red one in pitch black after say 15 minutes and certainly not after an hour.

Here is the blue, orange and green.  Green is definitely the best for brightness and duration of glow.

Smurf it!  I think my scales got infected!

 ;)

J/K...thanks to comis and Sos24 for the how-to and inspiration!

Mine is using translucent blue scales. So no vinegar soak or paint stripping required!

Wow...reading the comments after TG’s last update(#12) is looks like there are some unhappy campers about not getting their pledges yet. Reading the updates along the way, it seemed pretty clear to me that the smaller pledges (3) weren’t going to be getting theirs for a while. 4,100 orders isn’t trivial for a small operation and as a side gig. And the 3 packs make up almost half that at 1,866.

Can’t make everyone happy all the time, I guess.

Modified a Firefly to fit the back side tweezer slot in a modified plus scale. Also overlayed to glow blue.

I checked the link and man..they destroyed their goal.

That looks like an awesome product. Add even  more versatility to an already very versatile tool. If I had an SAK with a corkscrew that didnt have a mini screwdriver, id definitely get it.

Some nice pictures from the members here  :tu:

Their existing FireFly, that replaces the toothpick, might work for you.  As part of the kickstarter, the half tinder fits on the part of the corkscrew not covered by the screwdriver.

Now an official Victorinox product https://www.victorinox.com/global/en/Products/Swiss-Army-Knives/Accessories/Mini-Tool-FireAnt-Set/p/4.1330.B1

Even Felix Immler likes it!

Somebody posted about it making the official Vic part and vendor list a while back.

Last week, a bbq wood fire took me only three strikes in a pretty stiff wind using the regular (orange) helix tinder. And used only a 1/4 of the short style.  It been very reliable to me using it as my primary fire starting method all summer for bbq and camping.
