Another option for titanium is flame (heat) colouring.
I have some titanium hiking cutlery which I've flame coloured.
Both a commercial spork and home made knife and both are coloured up nicely and it appears more robust than the electrical anodising coating.
The beauty is that of the colour wears out gets scratched you can just hold it in the flame of your stove when cooking next and it's all good.
You should be able to get a nice blue on your mug Zoidberg.

Done that to my mug, when trying to heat some water (trying because it is a double-walled mug... ::) )
Can you get a consistent color? Or do you rather get a rainbow ?

Finally, found the courage... and time

Like the clip (the original Anthem clip I showed previously), it did not become blue, rather a grey-blue. It was very difficult to get the image to show the color, more or less how it is. Most pictures were way too blue.
Personally, I love it.

Slightly on the "too blue" side.

That's really well done!  Awesome job!  Just out of curiosity, does the clip color match the body in the end?

The original clip does... the custom one won't. If I would anodize this clip, it would become much more blue (more like the previous items I anodized). According to Benchmade, the "gray" Anthem has already an anodization and I think that is what prevents it from becoming real blue (I would have to remove it, if I wanted a brighter blue).

So, I will not anodize the custom clip as it fits pretty well with the stone-washed blade.

Color comparison
You can see that untreated (rough) Titanium has a much richer color. On the right the un-anodized version of the one to the left.

Thanks for the color comparison, now that you'd mention the matching custom clip with blade, I must say that's a very tasteful arrangement. :like:

I'm more bothered by the screws for the clip... these are the original Benchmade screws.
