ASP is the brand name. Otherwise it is just an expandable baton.

Day 14
I used the Spirit to loosen the fuel cap on a gas hedge trimmer I wanted to use, only to discover that the fuel line had dry rotted.

:D.  Thank you. It may have been ASP  then?  Hmm.  I've always called expandable batons ASPs. Kinda like QTIPs .  Good to know its a brand not the actual tool. I really had no clue.

Quite correct Alan  :salute:   I have had, in previous roles; ASP, Casco and Monadnock (Autolock 26" and PR24)

I strongly suspect that my current issue is made somewhere in the far east and, in comparison to the above, feels like a stick of limp celery to handle.
My favourite was the Monadnock Autolock 26" (with a PowerTip & Hindi Cap)  :tu: :twak:

Monadnock PR-24?  Those are so 1980's, Surge, I didn't think you were that old.  Did you throw it at fleeing suspects legs to trip them like they did on the T.J. Hooker TV show?

Indeed I am that old  :ahhh

We had to have non-collapsible batons for use in the prison riot* type scenario. The PR24 was the choice because it's side handle meant it was more suitable for blocking and forcing prisoners back into cells or up/down staircases and landings etc (also the short end was useful for a jab  ;)

* It was not called "riot" as that implied a loss of control & order. It was referred to as "concerted indiscipline"

Day 15

Tried swapping the small knife for a delica. The wider profile of the delica´s handle made the pocket prone to roll instead of sitting flat.

cool pic.
we don't really experience a dramatic spring or autumn in my part of South Africa,it's the middle of summer now.
seems the winter low is a laughable 7 deg C,but that's very cold, freezing cold for people in the city of Durban [on the coast].
summer max is in the 30's,with really hot days approaching 40 deg C. the humidity isn't too bad,but it's not eactly pleasnt.

Day 16

d16a by Humayd a r Mahomedy, on Flickr

d16b by Humayd a r Mahomedy, on Flickr

d16c by Humayd a r Mahomedy, on Flickr

we experience summer rain here, and we had a couple hours of rain yesterday, with maybe an hour of torrential rain.
so,this am i go out for a smoke [i usually work on Saturday, but i woke up feeling some effects of my bout with Covid] and decide to check the back of my son's truck, since it holds water, and, when there's heavy rain, the carport leaks.
what do i see sitting in the water? MY CAR KEYS!!! mystery how it got there [wasn't me].
i decided to open out the fob to check how much water got in,fortunately it was a few drops, dried it out and closed it.
OG Surge micro driver to the rescue

Day 16
The Duluth Warehouseman's Pouch is good. It holds the phone, pens, and the 111mm Outrider nicely.  My only problem with it is the pen sleeves are a little tight which forced me to use a clicky pen this month instead of my usual two piece pen because when attempting to withdraw the two piece pen I would just pull the top off and the rest of the pen would stay in the sleeve.  Bonus shot of the Wissahickon Critter and my pipe as I went outside this morning to enjoy the cool night air.

Here's another shot of the SAR load vest (different pouch, different contents) This time it's the RescueTool being photo-bombed by a bottle of sanitiser  :D

Hope you're all keeping safe and well out there  :tu:

Nice  :tu: I miss carrying stuff that's not in a challenge  ::)

I would normally carry my FX (and possibly a MT) but, having inadvertently ended up in two challenges at the same time, I find my choice somewhat restricted, ironically  :dunno:

I would love to have joined the FX Challenge in Feb' but, given the need to extend my current two, it would mean being in three & I can barely fit in these two, what with work etc... :ahhh

Thanks Surge :hatsoff: I do dislike being limited sometimes in a challenge but that is the point of them  ;) :D That being said, I like the freedom of choosing what I want and don't want to carry each day :salute:

DAY 17

Another non working day for me (back tomorrow  )

Here's another SAR load vest pouch spilling it's contents (the acutal carry depends upon the nature of each shout)

Today it's the lower left pouch which currently contains a pair of safety specs (they have a 2.0 reading portion at the base) and a cheap Energizer head torch for solo use.

We don't like using head torches for the obvious reason that they shine right in the eyes of your oppo'  ::)
