I don't have a Case medium jack but I do have a small REX and Utica that are wonderful as far as the Jack pattern.  I do have a couple of Case knives and I am more than happy to own them.  They are trappers with bone covers, one large and the other small.  I carry the small one daily for work and the large on my off days.  They have performed flawlessly and I really like the SS blades.  Fun thing is I like to also carry a carbon trad along with them just to mix things up.  Thats another topic............

I like Case knives and I own a number of them, though I don’t have a medium Jack.

I have seen some occasional F&F and W&T issues with them, but one advantage of buying from a brick-and-mortar store is that you should be able to handle the actual knife you would be buying prior to purchase to make sure it doesn’t have any of those problems.

I’m not entirely sure if your question is more about Case knives, more about the medium jack pattern, or both.  I would say Case generally makes a decent knife.  As noted above, I don’t own a medium jack, but the combination of one large and one small blade in a fairly svelte 3 3/8” package that weighs under two ounces should make for a knife that is very pleasant to carry and easily handles any light- to medium-duty pocket knife chores.

You may get the odd one with issues, as with anything, but since you are buying from an actual shop you can physically check the knife before you buy it.

It all will also depend on what your own personal standard for good is.  You need to decide what level of finish, walk and talk, size, steel etc. suits you. The knife may be perfect looking and working but too small/big for you.
