Yes, thanks guys. The long file model is also without keyring, which IMO makes it more pocketable, and the long pokey thing comes in handy too.

I agree. I sold several of those (maybe also the one you posted ;) ) and have not kept one for myself. Which was a mistake! I carried an original Traveller for a while because I don't like the hook and keyring. A Climber LNF would have been a better option.

So, R., do you actually carry and use yours? Because a million years ago you said you were not going to ;)

Excellent list Bobbi, like my FX too much not to have it in the top 3 but I’m pretty close in taste to you :like:

:like: thanks echotech. You are very kind. Maybe we relate as southern hemisphere folk.

Here's my list, all-time favorites with current alternative:
1: Master Craftsman/Ranger
2: LNF Climber small/Compact
3: Pocket tool chest/Rambler or Manager

Yes, I eventually found another one on fleaBay, years ago too, someone from Russia had a few of them, and put black plus scales on it. I was rotating it with a few Eco Climbers and Climber II's, which are also no keyring models, but the LNF has been stuck with pocket duty for months now. I'm still a fan of the hook, but I actually use the LNF more often, not as a file but as a long pokey thing. I tried and tried to carry a Pioneer X, but I really prefer the Climber.

Hands down, these 3. I didnt have to think about it at all:

1) Outrider. My basic Outdoor Blade/Hiking Knife if weight is not an issue. Covers everything basic when out with family, not too large for pocket carry. Combine with LM PS4 and you are good to go.
2) Huntsman (or Fieldmaster). For me the "real SAK". Carried whenever option 1 is too large or foodprep is not needed.
3) Soldier/Pioneer. Had do think about it a bit, but the Farmer is carried less than these. In Urban environment, everything else is too big.

4 and 5 would be Deluxe Tinker and Farmer, 6 is a Forester.

1...3 Covers 80% of my carry right now. Add 4 and 5 and you are at 95%.

I should sell all the 1xx knives I got sitting around.  :twak:

Most of the timeI have a MT, too. But thats pure backup that doenst see use in 9/10 times. Or I carry something because I "Want". Like a Traditional.

Executive is in the list twice. Small error or Victorinox and Wenger versions?

After seeing the results I decided to give the Rambler a second chance. I never carried it, but maybe I missed something. It certainly seems to be the favorite of some members  :tu:

Many thanks for this, SirVicaLot. Spirit came in second - consider me surprised. Maybe I need one after all?  I was also amazed by how well the Executive scored - it's a nice SAK, but I would not have guessed it to be in the Top 3 of many people.

Good stuff  :tu:

Edit: Also interesting: Huntsman comes in third while Fieldmaster does not even get mentioned. Cannot say I am surprised though. What did surprise me was the Pioneer X; I would have guessed it to be a fan favorite.

I'd argue that with the Rambler, Manager, and Midnight Manager being extremely similar (main layers identical -- only changes the scale tools), they could be considered one of the best with a combined 13 votes.  :D

I'm a little surprised the corkscrew models seem to be so preferred over the T-Phillips versions.

Just did. The 34 is the "former" designation, but I'll allow it.
