Thanks  :). I believe I will. I have always wanted one. Though lacking in some ways when compared to newer designs, the PST is what immediately comes to my mind when thinking about MTs.

Sorry that I missed this. Yes, I now have it. It needs some cleaning, which I will do when I can regain access to my shed (full of other people's stuff at the moment). Then I plan to carry it some.

Um....what's a PST, and how would I know if the Leatherman I bought around 1998 was one or not? At that time I thought there was only one kind of Leatherman tool, and I just went to the store and bought one. I didn't know there were different kinds back then. I broke it within a year or so, snapped the plier jaw off trying to use it like Snap-on pliers.....

The PST is the original Leatherman!  https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic=63999.0

And yes, it was the only type of Leatherman at one time.

Ah. Then even I have owned one. I guess. Pretty sure it was the standard variety one, but I think back now and it must have been 1998 or 99 I bought it.

Looks like there were a few models in production by 1999: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,4416.0.html

The easiest way to distinguish between them is PSTII 's had scissors and a partially serrated knife blade, regular PSTs didn't have scissors and had a plain blade.

Ah....I don't remember any scissors, so it was probably a PST normal.

Never owned a PST but have been gifted several cheap PST clones,The sort you see at petrol stations for a few pounds. I keep them for a while being a gift before they eventually end up in the recycling bin.

My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.

Wanted one as a kid, but not picked one up yet. These sorts of things don't tend to come up much cheap second hand in the UK though  :dunno:

The PST and PST II are all totally worth tracking down and trying  :salute: They aren't the most comfortable pliers compared to some of the tools out today but they are very compact and the tool ratio is very high for its weight :dd:

The easiest way to distinguish between them is PSTII 's had scissors and a partially serrated knife blade, regular PSTs didn't have scissors and had a plain blade.

Also the PST II had an awesome diamond file

Today is my MTO Anniversary.  I joined in 2013 and to celebrate I am giving one of you fine members a PST in the original leather sheath.

Here are the rules.

1. I chose your name from reading this thread and you sharing you've never had a PST or PST2 before.

2. If you have a PST or PST2 coming or have either now or ever had either then please remove your name.  This GAW is for PST newbies.  The PST2 is close enough so I omitted y'all.

3. Your country allows such a tool.

4. You still want to try a PST for the first time.

5. You plan to carry/use this tool not keep it for collection purposes.

Etcetera, and so on.......

I am sorry I didn't add names of those from this thread who stated they were not interested in a PST.  I also didn't add your name if you've had a PST 2 since it's close enough.  If I missed someone who stated they didn't have either a PST or PST2 sorry.  Let me know and point me to where you stated that and are interested.  My goal is to get a PST into the hands of those who have been interested in owning a PST to use and just haven't got around to getting one or its hard to come by in your area.  If you are looking for a MINT or NEW tool for the collection then please remove your name.  I will be sending a user to the winner so you can see what all the fuss is about.

Once every one on the list responds in this thread stating they meet the rules then I'll ask Gareth ( pretty please ) who started this thread to pick a winner by random number generator.  If Gareth cannot then I'll sign someone else  :D

Oh wow, that's extremely generous of you Aloha and happy MTO anniversary!

I can confirm that I've never had a PST 1 or 2, that I'm interested in one, that my country allows it, and that it'll get used and obligatory belt carried  :tu:

I’d love to own a PST, even if it was gently used. You know, someone’s already thoroughly cleaned the blood off.

It will be a preowned tool but it will also be one that can be put right to work and used as it should be  :tu:.  I'm assuming you meet the qualifications and have not got one in the mean time?
