I cringe at the thought of replacing the file with a saw, but different strokes for different folks  :)

Please post some pics when you're done.

I use a file (especially a diamond file) way more than a saw and am glad to have a tool coming with this toolset  :like:

As you say, different strokes for different folks. I use my Wave's saw probably 5x more often than the file. I'm already planning the mod.

My first post here was asking about modding my Wingman to replace the scissors with a file, so I'm with ya!  I even purchased a Wave file from eBay, and now I have no reason to mod or even use my Wingman anymore  :(

Keep the Wingman as is because it will probably be discontinued soon if it isn't already  :salute: and the prices of them will go up :ahhh

I wish you didn't drop that idea in my head - now I need to buy a Sidekick.

The Sidekick is a good multitool. It was my first Leatherman, way back in 2012 when I was a junior in high school (and the Sidekick was only $30! :ahhh).  It's not an entry-level Leatherman anymore, now that the price has basically doubled. >:(

I loved the spring-loaded pliers.

D*mn you Poncho65!!

I've been such a good boy lately, but I can't pass up the curl at $65 shipped.

Also, I will *never* judge women for having 50 pairs of shoes we are all just as sick.

Talking about sickness, Leathermans are so expensive here it is almost likely used only in 'emergency situations'. Otherwise, it spends most of its time pampered in leather pouches, polished from time to time, maintained in spanking new condition and admired like a mechanical timepiece jewellery item ! I think thats sick.

Well my Curl has just arrived and first impressions are good. Inside locking tools are very tight. Knife is smooth on opening. It has the same feel as my 1st gen wave which I loved.

I think it will be a good EDC, the weight is excellent.

I'll give it constant carry for a week and have a think.

I just got mine directly from LM. Ordered it on the 17th and got it on the 23rd. Not too bad for getting all the way to near Phila, Pa. At first the knife lock would not engage, but after opening/closing it for 5 minutes, all is well. I removed the pocket clip, making it noticeably thinner than the Wave. I'll carry it about a week before passing judgement. I think it will replace the Wave as my fishing MT.

I got one! I also got my wife one! Then I got a couple extras that my collection was missing (e.g. I didn't have a Surge with replaceable cutters). Plan on adding some paracord thumb wraps so we can tell them apart.

If it were my wife, I wouldn't need a paracord to tell them apart because I could just check which one was coated with hand lotion. 😆

Just got mine, and finished the file/saw swap mod. I'll post pics later.

Here's a tip for those of you who (like me) prefer to carry your Leatherman in a leather sheath: the Curl (with pocket clip removed) fits absolutely perfectly Leatherman's brown "heritage" sheath for the original Wave. I prefer to carry my multitool in a belt sheath when I'm wearing shorts (which is half the year in Houston, Tx) because clipping to my pocket tends to cause my shorts to sag.

Oh, forgot to add: I love it!

My purchase is on hold. The grandkids broke the TV at their house
So, Pa (me) decided to forgo the Curl this month and instead replace their TV.

Once again, I will have to live vicariously through you guys.
Hey Poncho, does it have that new MT smell?

Poncho's pictures really make me think the Curl would be a good MT to carry after work and on weekends.

Mine doesn't have the new MT smell because I had to heat the pivot (with our gas burner stove) to free the pivot screw from the loctite. And then, once I had taken the pivot screw and file off, the Curl was still super hot so I put it under cool running water...and the bronze washer went down the drain.  :ahhh

Not a huge deal, since I have a whole Wave to cannibalize, but having a spare washer would have been nice. They're so easy to lose (!!!) during modifications.

As promised: the Curl saw mod!

My overall impression of the Curl is that it's awesome! It's like a Sidekick that grew out of its teenaged gimmicks (like funky handle shapes and tiny files, serrated blades, and rulers) and went to college.

Of course, I probably wouldn't have bought it if I had been forced to pay full price (thanks, Poncho! :salute:).

I figured it would be a drop in mod, thanks for confirming  :tu: :like:

:iagree: that the Curl is miles better than the Sidekick and Wingman :salute: the Bond is also better as well :like:

Thanks! As you can see by the scratches on the saw, it's not exactly new. Now I have an old post-2004 Wave with no saw and two files!

But seriously, I really like the Curl. The name is appropriate because the back sides of the handles are curved/angled like those of the Bond, and my hand naturally curls around them (once the pocket clip is removed, that is).

As far as handle comfort in the close position is concerned, the only other Leatherman tools that come close to the Curl are the Bond (actually a bit more comfortable than the Curl, again without pocket clip) and the PST/PSTII. At least, as far as the Leatherman tools that I've handled. I can see the Curl being great for extended carving and whittling. Although, it does share the Wave's problem of having hotspots along the thin metal edges of the plates protecting the outside blades. Those edges could probably be rounded or softened if you're willing to do that.
