Traveller lite and a zip tie.
on: October 29, 2021, 03:36:51 PM
Owing to a temporary loss of electricity I was forced to breakout my trusty Chalwyn Tropic hurricane lantern. Not having anywhere central to hang it I pressed my Traveller Lite's hook into service which was ably assisted by an ever versatile zip tie fastening the SAK to the roof beam.

I hate to be a spoilsport, but couldn't you just have used the zip tie directly on the handle of the lantern?

If it uses white gas, you need to be able to take it down to pump it once in awhile.

It was more useful to use the hook so I could move it around when necessary. ;)

Great use but then you can't use your SAK for anything else during the outage. Perhaps an old clothes hanger would have sufficed

Good point, but you're assuming that he only had one SAK with him. On the other hand, during a power outage I would probably use a different SAK as a lantern hook and keep the Traveler Lite free so I could use the LED as a mobile light.
Current SAKs: Explorer, SwissChamp, Handyman (modded), Climber, Super Tinker, Tinker, Woodsman (modded), Electrician, Pioneer, SwissTool, Executive, Ambassador, Champion Plus
Current Leatherman tools: PST, Original Wave, Wave, Wave+, Blast, Bond, Curl, Style PS, Micra

Although the picture doesn’t show it particularly well the outage was in fact in my workshop. So I wasn’t short of tools, just something sufficient to hold a lantern aloft and radiate enough light for me to collect the appropriate equipment to sort the problem.
