Today's flea market goodies
on: January 29, 2022, 10:17:34 PM
I feel like I did pretty good today

$7 - Leatherman Sidekick
$5 - Rechargeable 320 lumen flashlight ( needed for work )
$1 - cordless screwdriver with charger ( wasn't gonna pass it up for a just a dollar )
$1 - Westclox Scotty wind up pocket watch ( not working,,,, yet )

I have always wanted a wind up pocket watch. They remind me of my elders and growing up in rural Virginia. However I've never found one I could afford or justify buying. Even though it doesn't currently work, I am looking forward to seeing if I can get it going. If not, I'm only out a dollar. The seller let me open it up before buying to see that it was all there. Since this was not a top of the line watch in the 70's, the USA made movement looks pretty entry level. I am really looking forward to trying something I've never done before.

My dad carried pockets watches, and if I'm not going senile, at least one was a Westclox.  Like pocket knives, he didn't spend a lot on them.

If I'm ever up your way, I want to follow you around the flea market just for the stuff you pass over.  :tu:

Nice haul.  I picked up a Westclox pocket watch as well not long ago.  You'd be surprised it may start working with just a little cleaning.  Mine was ready to go and is a fun accessory to carry.
Heres a site you can use to date your watch and hopefully get some helpful information and getting it running.

Me too.
Our flea markets seem to be full of either Chinese knock-offs or things that may have fallen off the trash truck.

That's what I call a successful flea market run. Hope I can revisit my local flea markets when the weather is nicer.

+1

Even if you need to take it to a jeweller to have it cleaned and repaired, I'd say it's worth it.

  :tu:
