Day 19

I had some free time on my hands today, so I decided to do some bush crafting. Made a walking stick from a downed tree branch I had collected a while ago. Nothing special and I did not spend too much time on it, but it was a fun project. Will take it hiking next time to try it out. Lately my knees seem to protest more when going down a steep, rocky incline for a prolonged period. I hope the walking stick can help with that. I am just not sure I want to carry it up the mountain before

Spirit helped screw a metal disk to the tip so make it more durable. Used the large screwdriver to pry open the can for the clear coat.

Very worthy SirVicaLot. Top job there.

Much more humbly my SwissTool simply opened an envelope with my entry into a forthcoming Sportive. Day 19/30 thus:

Day 19: just a glamour pic so far.  Great job everyone!

That's not "just" a glamour shot Barry. That bark is so full of character and interest

Day 19

No real duties today apart from popping open a beer. But here’s a photo of my Swisstool next to a lovely little small Buck Vantage Alaskan Guide which I got today.

Great pics Pete  :like:
How are you enjoying the Spirit in comparison to your normal Charge?

Thank You

Spirit blade is more useful for food prep which I expected. Blades are Victorinox's bread and butter, they should be able to make good ones. I prefer the Charge file, the Spirit one is very aggressive.

I am going to keep my final thoughts until day 31, suffice to say I really like the Spirit

Pete

DAY 19

Today was spent refitting a poorly placed monitor on a piece of x-ray equipment  :crash:

The SwissTool helped with the adjustments and then observed a diagnostic test run (I didn't break it  :2tu:)

NB: That is not me in image (it would need to be wide angle these days  ::)) It's a stock one that's there for comparison.

I would love the XC version to be made into a one handed opener and the black would be awesome.

Very cool craft.  Many backpackers use trekking poles even on up hills climbs to help with balance and stepping up, so the walking stick good be of some use.  Unfortunately, walking sticks are probably heavier than a lot of modern trekking poles and do not collapse.  But walking sticks look so much cooler

I also got the Spirit to look on whilst I got my last train ready for service.
I bet that's an interesting line of work! :tu:

Sliced lemon to get squeezed for salad...
I am becoming more and more tempted to cut into a lemon with a carbon steel or Case CV blade and see what happens!

It's an old walnut tree right outside my back door.
Nice! Though I'd be sorely tempted to make knife handles out of it.

Top work by awl! :tu:

Day 29
The Spirit had a busy day with just a bunch of small little tasks - opening box, cutting paracord, open chips, open bottle, tightening screw.  Some of the tasks were related to preparing my weekend travel bag including filling a new toiletry kit.  Part of filling the toiletry kit was swapping some colored o-rings on travel bottles.

Nice Dunc. A brass Fisher bullet pen? Very nice indeed.

Day 17/30. Scissors today. Delivery of a new shirt and some biltong snack opening
Nice uses.

I’ve only tried biltong once and didn’t really like it, which I thought was strange for how much I like different types of beef jerky.

Day 19

Used the scissors to open a bag of lentils for some soup...one of my favorite dishes. In practice I could of just torn the bag open - but, why not make it more neat and sophisticated with the SwissTool?

Day 20/30.

The Awlways helpful SwissTool made a good pilot hole in an old plastic bottle and the belt cutter finished the job making a seed scoop for bird seed.

I find cutting the bottle up this way round makes it sit better in the hand when being used.

Day 21/31

G'Day,

An easy day for the Spirit today. It started with a watchful eye on knife sharpening. A mate gave me one of his Ozzie made Damascus knifes to sharpen after some serious abuse in the kitchen. Man this blade is hard. It is going to take a few hours to get a decent edge!!! Spirit work included lunch a muffin duties only. No real work today, maybe tomorrow...
