Day 21: Went up on my first private pilot lesson today!  A bit windy but sunny 😊. Didn't get much use from the Swisstool, which is probably a good thing :D. My airplane was slightly larger than pictured,  but definitely not a R4D.

Good work today, everyone! Still need to take a pic today - and I have been busy in the shop - just with power tools and no MT.

Now work for the SwissTool today, even though I used tools all day in the shop...it played the role of supervisor today - here is a quick pic at day's end.

Wish I had the money needed for that (though I do have my A&P). And ol' Farmer X has much love for the DC-3 and its derivatives! :tu:

My Dad was a DC 3 pilot back in the late '50's for Westinghouse.  He loved that airplane more than any other out there.... they're still amazing!  He got his A&P prior to getting his multi engine, which saved him later on when his health took a dip.  I've wanted to do this for a long time.  I started out in the mid 90's when I was an E-4 in the Army, but couldn't swing it to keep it going.  We're going to see how it goes this time.

Day 21
Another busy day for the Spirit.  Cut open some jerky and a popsicle.  The awl, pliers and scissors all helped with a paracord project.

The Spirit saw tried helping remove a holly bush, but in the end had to concede to a more capable saw.

The paracord was, but the holly bush is torture.

Despite wearing a long sleeve shirt my arm is still all irritated.  I cut the thing down to just a stump a couple years ago and it grew back even worse.

This challenge inspired me to dig out my Swisstool about a week ago, I bought it second hand and it had led a used life. Over the week I oiled up the plier pivot points that had grown stiff and fixed the chips (and general bluntness) of the straight edge blade, the serrated will have to wait until I get a tapered rod. It's been fun to have it around for tasks, tool access isn't great on some implements, but it's certainly a tank!

Today it helped crimp down a paintbrush head before supervising an analog stick replacement:

Are you sure you want to post that license this way? It has a lot of personal information on it.

I cut the thing down to just a stump a couple years ago and it grew back even worse.

You might try dumping a bunch of salt piled up a couple of inches around the perimeter of the stump, assuming you don't want to plant anything else in that exact location.  I've done that a few times for pesky, rooty plants that I can't otherwise kill and it works well.  Maybe repeat after the first rain makes the salt disappear.  It is quite satisfying to pull up the whole stump a few weeks later.
