It's been a long time since we had cats Powernoodle...I miss them.

There is no kitty shortage.  You could have 3 more by the end of the day.   :tu:

DAY 29
The penultimate day and recovering from last nights shenanigans  :drink: Therefore, light use today

Used the awl & large flathead screwdriver to remove and replace the number on the gate  :tu:

I suspect the gate will disintergrate before I need to do this again  However, that (like the wall) is down to the landlord (property company)  ::)

Have a great rest of weekend awl

 everyone and it really was a great time!  There's not a lot that can be said about either of these tools that hasn't already been said.  They're rock solid engineering marvels!
There are badges for both tools available if you don't have them already.  Thanks again to everyone for a great 30 days!!  :tu:

DAY 30  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh
First of awl I would like to thank Barry for hosting this challenge  :drink:

Second I would like to thank awl of you for making a joy to do

So, I used the SwissTool for work and the Spirit for home (both the BO MXBS variant) and I can honestly say that they are genuinely well engineered and feel like solid lumps of MT  :tu:

I used the Spirit the most simply because I didn't need to use the work one so much (quiet month  :dunno:) and the only thing I would add would be to make the scissors and file OHO as well on both

All the above said, I'm just glad that Vic' have upped their game and done some OHO stuff. It's not the same as LM or Gerber etc, just different and different is good, right  :viking:

Peace. Out.  :salute:

Agree with that Surge

Day 30/30. It has been very enjoyable Awl to have your company.

As Barry said there's not much more that need be said about Swisstools and Spirits but they are a fine bit of kit and it has been great to re-acquaint myself with my SwissTool. I certainly don't need one day to day but I'm glad I can call on one when I need it.

Day 27

Finally a first real use of the Spirit

At 4 AM for some reason we got a short in this outlet and the power was gone. So as I woke up I used Spirit to examine it.
Flathead to remove the lid
(Image removed from quote.)

Gosh I’ve never seen this much gunk inside of the outlet - no idea how they managed to leave it like that
(Image removed from quote.)

Anyway, pulled it with pliers, cleaned and assembled back
(Image removed from quote.)

Ahh, Phillips was used to tighten all the contacts - for some reason they were really loose. Forgot to take a picture though

Anyway, turns out it’s not the cause of the problem. A fridge and a dishwasher were plugged into this outlet. We use the fridge of course, but never used the dishwasher - simply because we rent this place and don’t even have our own dishes and those provided by the owner are not economically reasonable to wash that way. Turns out a dishwasher is the problem something must have gone wrong with the power cable, because as soon as I plug it into any outlet - we see a flash and the power is gone

P.S.: I wouldn’t have been able to get this done with my beloved Work Champ - a long enough mid-sized flathead was needed. Doable with a Swiss Champ, but anyway glad I had a Spirit.

P.P.S.: still waiting for the information from Victorinox on how to get my pliers fixed or replaced. They replied to my email, and said they are trying to reach local Ukrainian representative, but anyway - when I had an issue with a LM Signal Leatherman replied on Twitter on the same day. Here it’s been almost a month

Thanks Barry for a chance to put our spirits and our Spirits to test

Great uses, gents

Day 30

So since I’ve found out that a short was caused by the dishwasher plug - next obvious step was to replace it.

Check below for the details
Show content
Used my malfunctioning wire cutters to this time pretty easily cut this actually hell of a thick wire

Of course it wasn’t achieved in one cut - rather 3-4 and it’s not the cleanest cut but it’s way better than my experience with these cutters before I have to say

One thing I totally love and it’s actually one of the reasons I bought this Spirit is the wire stripper - beautiful
However there is no wire crimping tool, so a Swiss Champ was invited to the party this time

Next a flathead was used and man I felt like it was tailor made for the job

All in all done in less than 10 minutes
