New MTO Corporate Sponsor
on: August 16, 2022, 11:53:57 AM
I am proud to announce that we have a new corporate sponsor, Arbco!

After lengthy negotiations with representatives Tomax and Xamot, we have come to an arrangement that will give us full access to manufacturing contractor MARS, and all we have to do is post any sightings of odd military equipment coming or going from the Army Chaplain's Assistant Motor Pool!

 :D

(If you don't get this reference, don't worry- you'd need to have read GI Joe comics in the 80's and I know that's a small demographic!)

Hi Boss!
We still have some MARS equipment running here. My boy is taking care of them for me.

Very cool HISS tank, and thanks for being the only one so far who knew what the heck I was talking about!   :D

Thank you Sir!
The comics were great!
I played a lot with these toys when I was a kid. And I kept them in a good shape and passed the toys to my son. (Along with some 90's Star Wars toys).

They were a lot better in the 90's than they are now.  They really haven't aged well.

Reading them now as am adult (I bought thebentire Marvel series on Google Play and read them a few months ago) all I can see are:

A- obviously all about selling toys.  You rarely see the same Joe or vehicle twice!

B- how is Cobra even considered a threat when they literally lose absolutely every engagement they are in?

I seem to recall much deeper storylines that were much deeper and dramatic when I was a kid.  I'm guessing I must have been reading a lot more I to it than there obviously is!   :ahhh

Arbco flew right over my head, but I got the Tomax and Xamot reference immediately (I had the action figures as a kid).

Arbco was the name of all of Cobra's "legitimate" businesses, like moving companies, garbage companies, legal firms etc that they used to fund their operations and move equipment around.   Later Arbco fell under the direct control of the Twins and the Crimson Guard.

Which zip a glaring plot hole really- if they had that many successful businesses they could probably have succeeded in world domination through financial and political means rather than constantly attempting military insurrection.

That may be worth some money, seeing how they are doing a updated repro from crowdfunding first:

I am on a FB group for GI Joe collectors and it is cool to see some of the Haslab stuff.

I think my favorite so far is the HISS tank that transforms into Megatron!

I was tempted, but that is as dark and dangerous a slope as the Lego stuff I have been avoiding!   :ahhh

I'm a bit disappointed that you chose them over OCP. Imagine what an ED-209 with a Multi-Tool could do.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Unfortunately ED-209 turned out to be a bit too glitchy, even if it was only going to cost me a dollar.... :D
