Here's what I kept.
A Buck 112 folder because you can never have too many Buck 112's.  It's going right into my road trip bag so I'll always have a knife with me when I hit the road, even if I forget to put one in my pocket.

An ESEE Zancudo folder because it just looked like an interesting knife.

A pen knife that looks like a fish because I was thinking of getting something whimsical to wear on a watch chain, and there it was.

A ferro rod because you can never have too many ways of starting a fire.

A NiteIze one piece tool because.  Just because.

And lastly I kept 3 very well done paracord zipper pulls because I always need them.

Yeah.  Just because is a valid reason in my book.  I like Buck 112 also.  Best wishes.  G

Nice haul and I love the reasoning.

:like:  new blood showing interest in box is a very good thing!

Hopefully they will not overwhelm Ed by the shear goodness within the cardboard confines
Agree.  It is awesome to see new interest.

I have come to the conclusion that if I live to be 143 years old, I will never understand people.  This box get passed back and forth primarily to just a few.  I took it one time.  I have tried to interest other members here into playing the SoS surprise box game.  Doesn't work so far.  Why?  Tell me.
The shipping isn't high.  If you find one thing that you like it pays for the shipping, then and there.  I have never seen anyone begrudge an item that someone kept from the box.  Sometimes a recipient takes out something for the neighborhood kids.  Bravo, I say.  Or a little gift for a special person in their life.  I like that too.
Is packing up the box, buying a little roll of shipping tape and taking the box to the post office such a chore?  I go to the post office fairly regularly anyway, don't you?  Don't want to take the responsibility?  Have too much stuff already?  If that's the case, then pack some of it in the box and let someone else enjoy.
Sherry started a very rare and unusual game here.  I never would have thought of it.  Others have pitched in and done their part in making this grow.  Still the number playing this game are few.  I just don't get it.
     Best wishes.  Gary

Spot on Gary 💕

Sos24 is a luvly person,  with heart as big as an aircraft carrier.  Has demonstrated generosity many times.

I believe  many members have as well through the history of MTo.   That is hy the Santa badge.

I know, I have been blessed by my visits here ten fold, a nd the box is great method to share.  A sharp or light, a trinket you thought cool, but never used, or a favorite to share.

A  great experience is the best a ay to describe.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

The reason why this box hasn't been to more people  :dunno:.  The sheer fun of unpacking all the neat things inside alone is worth the price of shipping.  Letting go of things just sitting around is also a fun thing to do.  Knowing someone is enjoying an item you placed into the box is very satisfying.

I'm glad the box is on the move.

Great items Alan.   :tu:

I never would have thought it would be so hard to give stuff away.  Everybody likes free stuff don't they?  I think some people are intensely private and would simply prefer not to tell anyone their address.  Who knows, maybe they're in the witness protection program. :dunno:

Actually, it is best to let them find you, then you can eliminate them.

It's a lot of fun.  Not really possible to send it to Canada, let alone Europe.  Too many duties, restrictive laws about knives, etc.  Does anybody know the status of the Australian box?  Where is this thing?  We have lots of active Aussies here.  Seems like somebody should know.  Is this thing sitting on top of a windmill at a cattle station?  In the back of a ute?
    Best wishes.  Gary

I hope AzteCypher finds some great stuff in it as well :tu: :like: :like:

I also agree that it is hard to understand why people don't want free stuff  :ahhh I have had it a few times in less than a year and each time it had grown bigger and bigger since the last time I had it :o

I like seeing the things that people keep.  There are many things that I am not familiar with.  Like the Esee folder.  I figured it was $125 maybe, but it is affordable.  Somewhere in the $30+ range.  I like the looks of it, even though I don't carry locking single blade folders.  Learned something new.  Best wishes.  G

You should take at least as much as you're putting in. If you don't, soon this will be a truck being driven from place to place, instead of a box...

It is getting close to that now, Santos.  I had to take out all the extra paper padding to get everything in the box when I had it.
I'm still curious about the second (Aussie) box.  Maybe Pancho or Aloha know something.  Best wishes.  G

Just got the package and holy cow it's heavier than I thought it would be!

I cracked it open but quickly set it aside when I realized how much is in it.  Going to have to go through it later this evening.  Thinking of letting my wife and son choose something from it as well.

Thanks for the post card Alan.

I'm glad it arrived safely.  Now comes the hard part.  There's plenty to chose from and digging through all that goodness is part of the fun.  By all means let the family choose something too.

There were so many goodies in the box it was truly hard to decide.  I'm honestly surprised more people don't sign up for the surprise box.  My family thought the concept was really cool.  On to the good stuff because as they say, "this post is useless without pictures".

My son chose the red Gerber Clutch, my wife chose the black Buck, and we collectively chose the Gerber Strata to keep in our "emergency bag" that we keep in our SUV.  I'm a SAK fan so you can see what I chose.

Can anyone tell me anything about the Voss Cut co multi tool.  I was very intrigued by it.  I tried looking online but my Google-fu appears to be lacking this evening.

An impressive haul.   :hatsoff:     I like everything you chose.  Be very careful with that Buck.  I cut myself with it before I repacked it.  Just a little nick, but it did draw blood.  That sucker is so sharp I think it might cut you if you look at it funny.  I looked long and hard at the Voss tool but my collecting already goes in so many directions that if I tried to graph it the graph would look like an abstract impressionist art piece.  I decided not to add something that didn't fit into a category I was already collecting.  It's pretty cool though.  Now we need to figure out who's getting the box next.  Come on now.  :pok: There's plenty of good stuff left in the box and we can't even guess what AzteCypher might have added. :dd:  If you want the surprise box post up in this thread.

This may take a while.  If I had the box I would seal it up ready for shipping, and put it in a closet so I wouldn't be tempted to take anything else out of it.  Eventually someone else will want it.

It stalled this time last year as well :tu: once someone took it (maybe it was me? ) it started moving again :woohoo: if nothing else and you don't feel comfortable having it, you can send it to me and I will hold it until someone does end up wanting it :salute:

I've taken Alan's advice and boxed it back up before I'm tempted to take something else to add to my collection.  :D

Bad part is I'm slowly cleaning my garage and I keep finding more items that would be good candidates for the box.  If I'm not careful, I'm going to send it fuller and heavier than when I received it!

Gonna give this a :bump: to see if we can get anyone else in line for free stuff :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

Come on, peeps  :pok: FREE STUFF :D

Just get the box, open it, look through it, choose some items you fancy,  put some stuff back in (optional), pack it back up and send it to the next person when we get one :dunno:

I wish samekind boxes would trip here in europe but i fear that postages would go pretty fast ridicilous prices ( cheapest packet to like Finland to Germany would cost 19.90€ and it doeant include warrant) also there might be customs even if sended inside europe, need to inform all products inside packet or it will be halted and need to pay hefty fines and worst case scenario lose items to state also.
