30 day OPINEL CHALLENGE March 2024

Given that we have a fair number of Opinel fans at MTo, I'm a bit surprised that we don't yet have a badge for an Opinel challenge. I aim to fix that! Note that this is not an official challenge thread, as I'm booked up with challenges through July. Rather, I'm gauging interest and trying to determine what month would work best for awl who are interested.

If you don't have an Opinel, they're cheap. A No. 2 is a great add-on to put you over a free shipping threshold. And you can get them in quite a variety of woods and colors.

I only have one. This sounds like a good execuse to carry and use the #13 a bit more, and possibly to get a smaller one/ones as well.

I've never seen one done like that AnneMarie.  I'd guess it was done by someone outside Opinel.  It looks to be an older model from the way the keychain is mounted to the grip.  I'd love to see what others have to say.

Don't know if it can be someone made it, unless they have professional tools. But for sure the gold color painting is very well done, but under it, it's completly rusty and full metal.

I have a No. 10, but this challenge might be a good excuse to get a No. 12 Explore.  I do wish they hadn’t put all that crap in the handle though; they could have shortened the handle and lowered the price.

I use a #8 every day in the kitchen, personally the 7 & 8 are the sweet spot….and being MTo and amongst friends, yes I have all of them :whistle:

Consume the MRE after the storage period and post pictures and descriptions of the contents. Participate in a Challenge thread and post a photo of  a Bladeless Multitool for 30 days

The No. 8 was the original and (as evidenced by preceding posts) still probably the most popular choice for pocket carry and general utility.

No. 10 is about ideal for me.  It’s similar in size to the Buck 110 and Case Folding Hunter.  So it’s large enough to handle just about anything that might reasonably be asked of a folding knife, but small enough to still pocket carry easily (especially given its light weight for its size, 2.5 ounces on my scale).
