GB, I hope you feel better soon.Day 06The Spirit and an ideal companion, the Lionsteel H1, in the rain.
*Day 11*(Image removed from quote.)Never feel so bittersweet about opening a knife package, this really sucks to no end. Don't want to spill the beans here, but here is the original thread.
Beautiful pic Roc!
Day 11 of 60 Today main job dor my Spirit was fidgeting around, today was safetylesson day and evwryone was forced to be there even we had valid safetycard.(Image removed from quote.)Only Tools Matters
Cybertool is a great combo. I've been pairing it with a minimal folder like a Sodbuster, but CT would definitely keep you ready for anything.Day 11Used the pliers to help pull paracord through the tang to make a lanyard for my Svord [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ] Taut line on one side and bowline on the other to make a "lock" w/ taut line pulled "tight", it's almost impossible to slide the bowline off. [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ] Loosened, it comes off easy. [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ] And it's easy to pull from pocket. Pretty happy with it.
Used the Philips to realign a door closer. Didn’t get a pic. Here is one after figuring my budget for the rest of the month.
I always hated safety “stand-downs” (as the military called them)
Thanks Barry and Alan. No idea what it is, so far all the typical tests are negative. I’ll need to get my flu shot soon before I’m laid out again. I go through yearly safety trainings for the lab, machine shop, and have to sit through the typical HR trainings once a year usually due in the fall. I’ve got to check on those dates. Isn’t the safety stand down the OHSA training? I seem to remember doing an OHSA training with the Air Force. I was a civilian contractor but we were on base.
Day 12Used the saw to trim a small branch which reminded me, it’s one of the few tools on the Spirit I don’t find as good as the SAK or LM version. The scissors being the other but they are great for thicker materials so compliment SAK scissors well (LM scissors are so varied it depends on model)Contentious and don’t expect everyone to agree, YMMV etc, but I’ve made the same observation in a previous challenge I’m not sure if the teeth aren’t as aggressive or because it’s ever so slightly thicker but takes more effort imoAfter cutting the branch with the spirit I tried with both a huntsman and a rebar and found both easier (Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)
Day 11Out straight today with whatever sickness this is… [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]
I hope you feel better soon! I just got over a 10 day stretch of the upper respiratory flu. I felt like I had Covid but it wasn't.
I'm sorry you got that one Comis....I don't know how that got past QC.
That's a great creative solution. This trick would totally work for those friction folders that do not have enough friction to hold the knife inside the handle.
Get well soon!I don't know whether it was Covid that make us more aware of upper respiratory health, but I felt people nowadays do get sick more often than what it used to be.
“Safety Stand downs” can be for various things and directed by the CO or higher. In the Navy we would do ones prior to deployments, prior to yard periods, if there were injuries occurring, prior to certain holidays, etc.
I remember doing a comparison between saws by trying a few different ones and found the 93mm SAK ones to be my favorite to use.
I might need to compare this weekend then. I can’t recall if I’ve noticed a difference. I’ve got some fire wood that needs processed.
A shortcoming of the Spirit imho, for not having the SE blade as part of the set, possible substitute for the scissors😉. Or, you are suppose to compliment the Spirit with another Vic model as a Recruit, Pocket Pal, or another model you are comfortable carrying 😉
I wish they never stopped selling the "S". I can use another VIC for scissors. Not many serrated options on 91mm VICs these days unless on secondary market or one of a couple versions that still offer that implement.
