Because personally (and greatly unpopularly here I know) I think the refills are a bit poo.  I know I currently have issues with my specific pen, but I find the refills make ink bogies all the sodding time and for a pen that is meant to write on everything, actually writes on less surfaces than a standard parker.  I don't think they write particularly nicely either.

I also just fancy something else as I have carried that specific pen for bloody years (got it from my Nan for christmas years ago) and like the tactical styled pens.

That's my experience with ALL the ball point pens I tried, Parker, Zebra, they all do it. The ink build up on top of tip then make big blobs on paper, it's part of the reason I migrated back to fountain pen.

I have only had that with the Fisher ones.  My last Parker was absolutely fine.

To actually write with, I prefer fountain pens and find that they make me write neater.  I used to have problems with them leaking in my pockets though that put me off.

I have been drooling over these though http://www.cultpens.com/acatalog/Pilot_Capless_Fountain_Pen.html

Yeah those are $$$. I'm using one with screw one top and it seems to be quite secure, clipped next to my wallet inside my coat and it hasn't fell out or leaked so far.

The one I'm using? It's a cheap little Reform 1745, there's a review here. I bought it on fountainpennetwork forum from a guy with a bunch of new old stock but I think he's out.

Wait guess what, there's a guy sellling it in UK. http://cgi.ebay.ca/New-Old-Stock-Reform-1745-Piston-Filler-Fountain-Pen_W0QQitemZ200391068843QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Home_Garden_PensPencils_WritingEquipment_SM?hash=item2ea83d0cab

I like fountain pens but as a south paw, they really aren't a clever idea for me!

I end up with a trail of ink all over the place and a very inky hand  :-[

Yea... :-\

I'm having a hard time slimming it down...

If my Rambler project works, the Classic and Scrap tool will come off, to be replaced with the Rambler (Phillips and standard drivers, knife and file).  The Atwood and JDR, they're gonna stay.

3 is overkill even for me.  :D  IMO you need a biggie, throwy one, and a smaller keychain one.  Not sure where a third really fits in.

The three I have are my Fenix L0D, Eagletac P10A and a Maglite Solitaire that stays in my emergency/repair tin.  So really it's two practical lights and a battery holder. ;)

Look, I still like the Solitaire and it has served me well in the past but, I admit, that was before LED's became practical.  It has also saved my bacon when my daughter wants a torch to play with but doesn't have her own with her.

You can never say the Solitaire is bright, but it does still manage to put some light out the front.  If only very little. :) If only Maglite would update it and give us an LED version as they have done with the rest of the range.  It wouldn't even have to be a super-bright torch but something equivalent to the E01 and I would buy it. :-\

I've given my old one to my boy too, as there, if nothing else, robust :)

Plus it is a good torch to learn on imo :)

+1 on the update, as it's such a nice size, it's just begging for a bit more all round performance :-\

Yay Ladybug Salt :D

Since I got mine from Nikos, it has been with me permanently. I know it's technically not legal EDC over here, but it's so small the only reaction it gets is "awwwwwww".

Here's my current EDC tools:

I have a black VG-10 serrated Ladybug too, but the PE is much better I think, so that's not getting any pocket time at the moment.

yeah that one. looks pretty slick in that side pocket.

the leather sheath looks so much nicer and less bulky than my dang nylon one.
