Day 11

After days I terrible Chinese knock offs, I figured I'd show a decent one. While I'd take the Camillus over it, this Marbles remake of the MIL-K-818 is well made. Clean action, the tools all actually work, and that stamped steel handle is hard to screw up. At under $10, this was an easy recommendation for a cheap/first knife. They're marked down and/or out of stock at most retailers now, so maybe out of production. I hope not. As a collector, I appreciate SMKW using their house brands to keep classic patterns and styles in circulation. As a user, I appreciate being able to get a real user at sub-gas station junk prices.

All of them of course!
Little being relative I take it?

  They act like LAP dogs!

I dog sat them last spring for a week, most evenings, sit in middle of couch and head a head laying on each thigh, as the sprawled to each end of this huge couch.

Since the we are BEST BUDS!😉
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

I'd set your bar a little higher if I were you.  :like:

At my advanced age, I reached the summit and now on the downward side. So aspiring to be like something is a look out point as I slide downward. 😉

@BPRoberts - yes the Marbles are nice  solid copies. I have only the GI Jack model, yet it is very capable.

Here now on patio with two little doges.
They look about ten times the size of my dog!

Elliot penknife of slightly larger proportions than average.
:like: I assume that's imitation ivory?

Today was "replace the window regulator in my daughters car day".
That was a project I never got to on my '93 F-150. I think it had long been ongoing, as all the clips on the trim panel were gone.

More great stuff for today, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 12

Yet another can opened, this time with a no-name metal Scout.

30 Scouts in 30 Days: 12

The world's smallest, and most useless, scout. The blade is fine, and the bottle opener is marginal, but the can opener isn't even sharpened. Granted, I don't think I'd trust it not to snap off in use. Seems like if Rough Ryder wasn't going to try they could've at least put an awl in there like the cub scout knife. Oh well, still fun to see the goofy stuff some companies make.

Day 12

Finally got to try out the Scout's can opener and I am thoroughly impressed.  In spite of my lack of practice, the can opener did an excellent job of opening up this can of beans.  I might start using this every time I need to open a can.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

I've been looking at an Otter Spear for a while now, how do you like it??

The Otter was sent to me instead of the new knife I was trying to purchase. It is used and missing a bail. Even so, it is a solid knife that feels great in my hand and is of higher quality than the knife I was trying to buy. I like it a lot.

I try to offer the services of whatever can opener I have on me to my wife, but she continues to turn me down for her electric opener  :dunno:

:iagree: Rough Ryder's mini Bowies are a bit goofy, but still kinda fun.

Finally got to try out the Scout's can opener and I am thoroughly impressed.
The lobster claws are my favorite type of can opener. Yours did pretty well for itself!

I have found that I am a sucker for Case's walnut handles.
I can see why. Those look really good!

Someone (can't remember who, can't be quite bothered enough to go back and read ;) ) inspired me to dig out my ring-turn penknife.
:like: And Gra_farmer gets credit for the inspiration.

Taking a look at the no-name metal Scout. I like how the can opener is clearly identified as such. :D
