Greetings all,  I am new to the forum.   I have been a collector / user of Swiss Army knives for a long long time, but this knife has me stumped.  I can't figure out which model it is and was wondering if I could get some help?   I bought this in Korea back in 1996 and it has been my EDC knife for a long time.  Thanks

Welcome aboard!

You have an older version of the WorkChamp.

Current production models add a second, smaller but longer inline Phillips screwdriver in the same layer as the scissors, and Vic has eliminated the slide lock models in favor of liner locks.

Thanks so much, I was racking my brain and could not match it up with any on the SAKWiki Page.  Yes the Olive scales are hard to find.

I have a workchamp with the nylon style scales and slide lock. It does have the aforementioned small screwdriver. One of the best SAKs ever made in my opinion.

There are a few possibilities for the second one. If it doesn't have an inline Phillips, it's an early Outrider. Later Outriders have a long inline Phillips. If it has a short inline Phillips, it's an Atlas. That's as I understand it, anyway.

This is correct.  Current production Outriders also have liner locks rather than slide locks.

As an aside, it is not an Atlas.  Those had pliers but no scissors.

Please let us know how/why you could not identify it as a WorkChamp in SAKWiki. Eg was it the scales?, no long Phillips?  etc etc    ???
We are always looking for ways to improve SAKWiki

As an aside and coincidence  I am working on a new Wiki page that does describe exactly how to use SAKWiki to find an unknown model     :salute:    :tu:

I am working on a new Wiki page that does describe exactly how to use SAKWiki to find an unknown model

FWIW, my approach is to identify the length, and the number of layers.  Filtering on those two criteria usually generates a list that is manageable to start looking at tool load outs.

Thanks for all your work on the Wiki!

I had a hard time finding the legacy history of the two knives I was trying to identify.  I narrowed it down to 111mm and slide lock, but the tools on it didn't match any of the names, came close to some but not knowing that SAK added or subtracted tools from early models to later models was where I got lost.

Thanks for the responses.

Yep - As Nate said the key steps are:
1. Identify the manufacturer
2. Identify the length
3. Identify the number of layers - Then go to that page and work through the list

So following this process for the OP model:
V > 111 > +  (in your case 6)
You would have arrived at the 111mm + layer page
On that layer page you would have seen only one 6 layer model - the WorkChamp
- And on the WorkChamp page it explains that the longer Phillips was not always there

Anyways - This is exactly what will be explained in the new How to Use the Wiki Page

So now I have announced it - I had better get it finished !!
