First time modding question
on: September 29, 2025, 10:25:07 PM
After years of experimenting with different models as my EDC for both work and personal use and having decided on my favorites for both instances, I think I am ready to try my hand at modding a SAK. I have loved the tool set of an Explorer since I bought my first one and soon found a discontinued model, the Woodsman, that I thought would be a great first-time mod attempt. I’ve also been thinking of adding a pliers layer and file layer to a stock Explorer. Actually I would be removing layers from a donor SwissChamp and re-use the same pins. Looking at my SwissChamp, I know the pliers layer has no back-side tools, but the file has the chisel. I’m trying to decide whether to keep the chisel or swap it out for the small flat-head screwdriver instead. Does anyone know if this would be feasible or would there be some modification of the tool or back spring to make it work?

Swapping from the chisel back tool to the fine slotted tip driver back tool will work no problem, and with no modification to anything besides swapping them.
