Not quite. While new, my understanding is that the Synergy X Alox is part of the regular product line, not some special run or limited edition. Also, if one recognizes that the file portion of the metal saw/file works just fine for filing fingernails (and I can say from personal experience that this is the case, though it is more aggressive than the typical dedicated nail file), then the list should include the Mountaineer, Swisschamp, Handyman, Ranger, Work Champ, etc.
I know not full size, yet the SPORTSMAN and EVO 14 could fill this catagory nicely.
Here’s a link to info on the nail file with some models, I have three customs and each I made sure had both, my edc sak is a FarmerX, yeah no nail file but it’s got the scissors and large, and I carry a mini sak on my keys, so that’s got the nail file, yet also a mini pair of scissors,, yet I think one of our customizers took a nail file and shaped it so both ends were the same and tapped it to the side of the alox, I have a spare nail file and think it would be great to do the same to my FarmerX, but I don’t have a tap set, so I thought of how I bought pocket clips which had 3M double face tape, I carried them for a good 4yrs and when I took the clips off it took a good 10min just to get the clip off, so why not do the same using the tape, yet I go to find my roll and then forgot I used the last of it on a project like 3month ago, like uhhh! So there’s another idea,, heck use a fancy nail file, heck if on a plastic scales and if skateboard deck tape is right roughness, you’d only need like what 3” and you’d have like what 20-40 pieces, lol,,JR https://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Nail+File
Evo 14 is great, but it’s deleted and at least in the UK and Europe, not so easy to find.
The sportsman doesn't have scissors, but the EVO 14 is another I forgot about, thanks
Thanks guys, the wengers are good suggestions that I had forgotten about. Does anyone know if the more recent Vic delemont versions have the weaker back springs like wenger used to have, or are they a a bit stronger like Vic’s offerings?
Still showing in stock on the big river site here in the US, but I agree that if anyone wants one, they should get it now.
You need a Synergy X, or you could build a Voyageur mod, or don't forget that a Compact has the nail file surface on the back. (Image removed from quote.)
Thanks! I didn't like the pioneer X as it became just too "brick like" over the regular pioneer for me, so I'm guessing the Synergy X would be the same. A Cadet X would be amazing, but just don't have the funds to pursue 84mm scissors, or a pre-built mod at the moment. In theory a Voyageur or Compact would be ideal, but I just don't like the combo-tool.
I managed to reconcile my love of Alox, requirement for scissors, and lack of tolerance for thick knives by dual-carrying the Companion X Alox (93mm scissors only) and an Alox Cadet. They sit on left and right sides of a small pocket pouch. May not work for you of course.
That's an interesting and clever solution. I may have to try that out.
Interesting observations. I could add that if one goes with the Companion Slim and further weight reduction is desirable, an Opinel or similarly light dedicated knife would serve very well.
Sometimes my love of SAKs blinds me to alternatives that may well work better.
