I was like you since I owned more Leatherman MTs and a few Victorinox SAKs, but never a Victorinox MT....until yesterday. I've been rationalizing that my Rebar and ST300 are all the medium and large sized MTs I need and have been ignoring the SwissTool and Spirits.

But yesterday I finally got a Spirit and all I can is WOW. You really have to experience it by touching it to know the quality build is much better than a Leatherman. It feels like a precision tool...and even a man's jewelry.

What makes it better than any LM is the lifetime warranty Victorinox gives, I've read! My Spirit is a keeper and I'm so happy to be a member of this prestigious club!  :hatsoff:

Welcome to the club!

Full kit for today, as there will be some new equipment to assemble and older one to adjust both at school and at the Clinic.

Hello, I just pick up this one with something unusual. It come with "square tip" butter blade? The model number is 3.0227.R, not N or L??. Can someone shed some light on this? Thanks a lot!

I thought the N was for nylon sheath, L for Leather sheath

I think that the 3.0227 is the model number for the now discontinued Swisstool Spirit XC. Here's a link to the SakWiki page for it

https://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Spirit

The "R" could be a country/market designation.

I see. Mine at the right side. Actually, I never seen that tip shape before on the spirit blade.

It is my understanding that it was the original blade for the Swisstool Spirit. It looks like yours had the tip broken or reprofiled, has it been converted into a scraper?

Tazzy's right, the "4.0822n" is the designation for the regular nylon sheath.

Still a great tool, enjoy! :tu:

Thanks! This one was bought in Japan and I'm pretty sure that it 100% new. I called to the seller this afternoon, they confirmed that every their vic spirit (nylon case) has the same blade. ???

I'm sceptical.

The nailnicks are in the exact same spot if both handles would be outlined.
Which means that the Spirit on the right has a shorter blade and the end of the cutting edge looks like it ends with half an inward serration.

Maybe it's shortened by the regional importer to match the local laws regarding blade length?

Could be; as I googled "Victorinox 3.0227r" found some examples that came from Japanese sites showing the "trimmed" blade so, it could be feasable. Let's hope someone more knowledgeable chime in on this.

I had to remove some labels from my work uniform wicking tops (so I could dispose of them)

It was a bit overkill but I used the MXBS scissors to do so (still, no point in doing this the easy way  :dunno:  )

There, and all I did today was use the scissors on my SwissChamp to snip a label. I’m clearly not complicating this enough … or I’m in a Challenge

I really need to get in some Spirit time soon …

Winding down from today's chores (it is 23:36h here in PR), my Spirit helped with libations: the large wire stripper helped with the foil and the corkscrew, well... anyhow, job well done; enjoy! :D
