Graham Knives Razel: You have to check these out!!!
on: March 20, 2009, 09:27:16 PM
Ok... I'm in love!  :D  I heard about the Graham Razel for awhile now and always put getting one on the back burner. I had a friend offer me this stubby Razel (pronounced Ray-Zel) and I simply couldn't refuse the offer. The knife is totally amazing. Pictures simply don't do this knife justice. You need to hold one to appreciate it. You can see from my picture just how thick it is. I'm going to be selling some stuff so I can buy a couple more of these. I'm especially looking for a Wee Razel and a Ringed Razel. Anyway, here is a quick picture of the one I just bought:

Here is a pretty cool video that shows more of the Razel line:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7w-L6J4TY8\

Here is a link to the Graham Knives site:

http://www.grahamknives.com/

And for the budget minded, CRKT makes a line of the Razels:

http://www.crkt.com/razel.html

I highly advise that you check these out!  :tu:

Here is a video of the CRKT Razel:

I just found another video done by my friend Ken Cardwel:

Ken is using the Wee Razel which is my next Razel purchase.  :tu:

You have to check one out if you get a chance. I can understanding not liking the look of it from a picture, but when you hold one you get it.  :tu:

I have never had or handled a blade like that, how do you find that shape?

I love it.... Razor + Chisel = Razel  There is nothing else like it. You cant use this for everything, but for times when you need a chisel and a blade for scraping, this is the knife to use. I have the stubby Razel and it feels great in the hand. It's one solid little knife!  :tu:

I have been thinking about getting the Boker Cop Tool for SWAT.  I pry more than I poke.  Obviously there is a quality difference between the Cop Tool and the Graham but I wonder how much.  Have you ever handled the Cop Tool?  I would also think those into bushcraft would be all over a sturdy knife like this.

I have the actual Wilson Cop Tool and it's in a different class. Being made out of a solid piece of D2 steel, the Cop Tool is meant to be used and abused. I dont think you could hurt it if you tried. If I wanted to punch a knife thru a wall, the Cop Tool would be my choice. The Razel is a tough knife, but nothing like the Cop Tool...  :tu:

That is a really kewl tool!  I hadn't the foggiest on what they actually were or how they were to be used until watching the youtube vids.
As a matter of fact, I thought originally they were "severe factory seconds"  from the knife companies that were trying to get rid of the blades that didn't survive the tip strength test.  ;)

That is an excellent looking knife.  The closest I have is one of these that Mikko sent me...

The small ringed Razel and the Cop Tool both intrigue me . Don't know if I would go full bucks up for a custom one , A prodo one would make more sense , just to see if the concept works for me . I'm already half way there , as I carry a chisel in a sheath on my work belt .

The closest I know of is the Mora Craftline Chisel knife.  Not sure who will stock them on your side of the water though.

I just got this baby in trade:  :D

It's simply the best fixed blade knife I've ever held. It fits my hand like a glove. I only wish I could get a good picture of it.  ::) You have to hold one of these to appreciate how great they are!  :tu:

Def, I'll be busy for the next few days, but I'll take a shot at a full review next week. Reviews are not my strong point, but I'll give it a try.  :tu:

That's what a review is in my opinion... it doesn't have to be a formal thing, just a guy who has something and some thoughts on it.  :D

John,

That is a really nice Razel!  If I find one in store or anyone that has one to trade I am interested!  I think I might if choice be given grab the one without the ring at the end because I like the idea of being able to "tap" on the butt
with a stick or mallet.  But you did well on that one.  ;)
