And if your particular country doesn't carve pumpkins carve something else.
Watermelons. Squash.
I don't care. Something similar to a pumpkin and you're in!

Do you have to choose just one MTO or SAK from the beginning and stick with it or could you use a couple different ones throughout?

I used a squash, as it was handy.   Does that count?

Yeah between family issues, work and fishing I don't have much time these days... But I still lurk in the corner  The pumpkin was actually pure coincidents as I carved it at a friends house who has 4 kids and only had 2 carving kits so I used what I had on me. The power lock also was used to cut the bottom off. I carved this a few days before I even knew there was a contest.

Was a bit in a rush... so nothing too creative... noting large either...

Still, you can't go wrong with the classic look.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Crappy attempt, using a gourd (not yet dried out) and the fish scaler  a 50 year old Victorinox Fisherman that has seen better days (the fish scaler, awl, and openers layer are all that's intact on it).   Idea was derived from the cheap carving sets at the local grocery store. I did clean the knife afterwards.

Someday, I'm going to take a Super Tinker and that used era-correct beater Tinker (with the proper square file/Phillips) and fix the Fisherman.  I've been putting it off way too long.
