years ago I used to watch the original with my sister as kids it must have been late 1970's on our old 13 inch black and white t.v with poor reception depending on how handy you were at adjusting rabbit ears  :)  If memory serves me it was with Lorne Green, Richard Hatch, Dirk Benedict.  We loved watching that version.

this past friday I was like "whatda we watch now!"  >:(

the effects were so good, great writing and good acting.
to see Richard Hatch (original Apollo) as a bad-guy and how his character ended was cool!

the original Baltar was a joke, the new one is my hero, he had 2 cylons/babes at once! (the energizer dawg!)

I just think it's a great shame, first they canned Deadwood, then BSG >:(

It's like people want to turn a blind eye to the grim, gritty realities of life ::)

And yeah Baltar was a VERY cool character :D

one thing I didn't like was the actual Battle Star, the new one, too "finny" for me,
like it needed a lot of heat sinking ::)  I liked the old one better.

In a sense it's nice to see a series coming to an end thou, instead of dragging on and on till people lose interest, then just disappear.

Yeah I suppose they did end on a high note :)

And at least they got to finish it, which is more than they did with Deadwood >:(

I tried, but I just couldn't get into the new BSG.... I wanted to like it, I really did, but I wish they'd done what they did with Star Trek- new crew, new names.  That would have made i better for me I think, since I couldn't get over the Cylons being women, Starbuck being a woman, the big black guy being a small Asian woman, who I think turned out to be a small Asian woman Cylon....  Nothing against women, I just am not sure remaking all the characters that made the original series what is was, was the best idea.

Every time someone mentions BattleStar Galactica to me I think of the ad that ran on City TV in Toronto.

I'm guessing "The Plan" (if it really is made, anybody can post in wikipedia which is not a fact based site) will be more earth/planet based show (which is way cheaper), so ehh, we'll see.

Caprica will also be more earth/planet based, so ehh again. Special Effects, good ones cost money!

One of the main reasons I like both BSGs was the effects, Dystra (effects guy) in the first one did some cool things, just like they did in the newest series, ground breaking cool!

but.. the first one (70's) was soooo corny, Starbuck especially, I really didn't care for him or Baltar, bafoons in space! the only thing missing with them was a laugh track. Lorne Green was way to serious and always right, didn't like that. Why would cylons/robots have skirts? (but I still liked them, musta been the eye :D ).

It was a little difficult at first to get over things like Def said, but when I watched it, I appreciated how and why they did things, changed things that needed changing. Men and Women in the same shower room, not caring, less silly drama-dy more drama, Katee Sackhoff could act circles around the last Starbuck! They turned a clown character into a diverse, interesting, smart part of the show.

The way they showed Adama fall apart at the end of the series was brillant, a real person who can't do it all.
and don't get me started on Tricia omg! and she can act in a tight red dress! I'll miss this show.

When I was in the army there was this major, really great guy, that was nearly obsessed with BSG. He was even thinking of having translated stanzas framed on the walls of his office in the brigade hq... I've never watched BSG and he kept telling me that I don't know what I'm losing... :D

I liked the first two seasons. From the-eye-in-the-sky on, there was too much "Gods did it, don't ask" to be still a Sci-fi series. It became a sort of a show about guardian angels. I watched every episode, yet, and the end feature was as much disappointing as it could be: foreseen, with no real answers (the song? Kara? why the kid?) and rethoric. It was one of, maybe THE, best SF shows of the decade... and it spoiled midway :/

Just finished watching it, and it left me feel, I duno, empty. Not because the show is over but the ending is so sad.

For all the power the cylons have, their fate was the same as a regular civilian. Father and son both ended up alone, one with a dead girlfriend, and one with a ghost girlfriend. The ancient final 5 ended up dead, turn into vegetable and fly into the sun, or living alone on an island.

I guess I'm just miss seeing 6. I don't actually find the actual Tricia Helfer particularly good looking (I mean she is hot, but not more so than all the other hot chicks), but the way she made up to play 6, hell I'd live through 4 year of that crap and volunteer for the final battle just to grab one.
