Hey gang. I will do a more in depth post with more photos on this mod when I am able to but here is a preview....

Rehaped the frame of scissors to compliment the new curve I put on the handle as well as the curve of the new spring. Old hole for spring also reshaped to flow with rest of the design. Drilled and installed new pin to lock the new custom spring.....

Here they are in the deployed/open position. I designed the spring so it only engages when the scissors are fully deployed and locked.....

Here they are in the deployed but unlocked position. Once unlocked the spring disengages allowing the scissors to fold down, flush with the top of the handle. Notice they close opposite of what they use to. No more having to flip the handle 180 degrees just to fold them down!.....

Fully closed inside of the tool. While there is no more nail nick, this actually works out better and almost feels like it was meant to be.....

That is one of the most interested mods I've seen in awhile. It's a shame you don't have the resources to produce your own multi-tools..... I imagine there'd be quite a market for them  :D

I'm not very good OHO, either. But I can open a Crunch in under 1 second using 2 hands.  8)

There's a Crunch club too?

0303 - Small screwdriver was modified to an awl out of necessity. Nothing fancy, used it for just about everything, and it really got worked out during arc welding classes. Used to EDC it with a Wave.

Sharing is... /forgot

Quote from: Leatherman
Jim,
The Crunch was first introduced in 1999 just a year after the first model of the Wave and shortly before the Pulse. The Crunch was actually Tim Leatherman's original idea for a multi-tool but unfortunately he did not have all of the manufacturing capabilities to make it in the late 1980's. There have been slight manufacturing improvements over time but you’re correct in saying that no Anniversary models have been manufactured. I will pass this idea on to the design team about some type of limited edition Anniversary Crunch in the future. Michael @LTG

And I'm back!!  Got a crunch in the mail today, love it!  I think it will stay on my belt with my pulse.  Problem is, now I have 3 LM's on me, the pulse, crunch, and juice SC2.  I can't decide which to carry!  Does that make me weird?

That depends on whether you mean "out there in the world amongst normal people" weird...

..or "on the web with a bunch of people who spend their free time talking about their multi-tool collections" weird.
