There's a list out there of like 150 things, but here's a few off the top of my head;

-Wipe your hands!
-Cover a wound
-tie something off (most of us have some paracord on us though)
-drop a rock in it and it's a blackjack.  Drop the rock out of it and it's just a bandanna.
-Picking up hot things
-Picking up cold things
-carry a bunch of small stuff from point A to point B in one.
-Use as a dropcloth while working with little peices of whatever.  Screws and bolts don't roll on cloth as much.
-etc..

Here's some good articles/pics to check out to;

-Potassium

A guy actually told me he has a WICKED Charlie Horse in his knee and stumbles over to the fruit bowl and took a bite or two of a bananna..and the Charlie Horse faded fast.

A very usefull item . Good as a sweat rag round the neck or forehead . Can save you from severe sunburn to the head/neck area . If clean , makes a very good emergency dressing , good for applying direct pressure to wounds . Can be a sling , usefull in splinting . Can be a torniquet in a pinch ( if you are qualified to use one . Can warm inspired air in cold conditions , can protect lower facial area from frostbite .

Can be a filter , can be a weapon ( fill with coins , padlock , or rock ) , makes a good improvised sap . Good insect protection for the face an neck if you run out of bug juice . Usefull for liquor store holdups ( quick access to venture capital) . Joking ! Carrying one is the mark of a savy outdoorsman .

Good for improvised bondage , if soaked and knotted -makes a good whip . If soaked , rolled up and tied around the head , very cooling in times of extreme heat .

The foregoing are just ideas that are off the top of my head .

A small rubber ball and a bandana makes a great gag , for BDSM activities . They are also good as a cleaning / polishing cloth . Good for wiping off fingerprints off your drop piece , good for picking up evidence .

I've heard they can be used as weapons if you put a heavy padlock on on end.

Yeppers , or a roll of quarters , or a nasty rock . I once used mine as an emergency dog collar , when I found a stray puppy , bit of paracord ( I always carry 10' ) , an I had a leash . I've also soaked one in milk an , put it in the neck of a bottle an fed a baby critter .

If I got my cargo pants on then it rides in one of the side pockets, in jeans the back pocket does the trick. 101 uses  :cheers:

I carry one because to me they are like the SAK's of the clothing accessory world. I don't think that there is enough space to cover all the uses...If one shops carefully, the loss of one due to a nasty use...IE I am out of Toilet Paper in this stall, the cost is negligble....

I carry one for all the same reasons everyone else does. I would be careful on how you carry one don't leave any of one showing. Having the wrong color bandanna in the wrong neighborhood could get you killed. Carrying a banana in your back pocket will just make a mess.

You chaps ought to be aware that there is a code used by gentlemen of a gay persuasion regarding the placement and colour of a bandana. Ffor example, left back pocket, olive drab colour = military man who likes to be on top. This example is one of the more savoury ones.

Not inviting any little homophobic snipes here... just thought you'd like to know before tucking one in your pocket and taking a stroll thought the night  ;)

I read something about that also...about two or three sentences before I "got the picture".

I have digital camo bandannas, I don't think that means much of anything to anyone!

...still, mine is neatly folded and completely in my back pocket :D

Good grief.. the humble bandanna used as a secret flag for homosexual activity preference signaling? Who sits down and figures these things out? Who hands out the pamphlets? Is there like some kind of Homo Handbook? I've never seen one, so they sure are good at keeping us straight guys out of the loop.

Next thing you know there will be foot tapping codes in bathroom stalls, or certain ear rings in certain ears..

Oh, wait...

Seriously, is there like a... "Council for Gay Affairs" or something that makes decrees about this stuff?  :think:

I carry a bandanna and have for ages. It goes in my right pants pocket folded along with my Unbreakable comb. It is hidden from view, just as my father always carried his. A good thing too, as I'd hate to think my handkerchief might be giving someone ideas.

I dab sweat from my forehead with it, dry my daughters tears with it (and more recently my own when my Grandfather died), dry my hands on it when towels are unavailable but water and soap are, and if necessary, I will blow or wipe my nose with it. I have a dozen or so of them, in shades of blue, green, brown, and black. When one becomes soiled, or has been pocketed unused for more than a week or two, they are tossed in the laundry and a new one is folded.

I have never needed to filter pond water with one, or improvise a splint, but they do make a good headband to keep sweat at bay.

And it is nice to know you can use them for lots of things you hope you never have to.

Are you suggesting that big over-muscled sweaty men, wearing skimpy lycra and touching each other a lot has some kind of homoerotic connotation?

Honestly.... you have such vivid imaginations  :D
