Lost tool's?
on: April 08, 2009, 07:42:46 PM
Ok I've read a lot of post's where people have said they've lost tool's :(. Now I never have, as I'm bloody paranoid about such thing's and usually have them lanyarded or tied off onto something, but I know it's easy to do :-\. You put it down, walk of to do something, then it's gone in the short time you left it

So how many of you have actually lost a tool, and if so how many ???

I had given my bro a Taiwanese PST replica I had many moons ago and he was kind enough to misplace it. Does that count? :-\

I once found a multi I had lost 8 years earlier.  I was changing a fluorescent bulb in an office where I worked and I need my multi to pull out the clip that holds that plastic and metal door to get to the bulbs.  After I opened it I placed the multi, a black oxide PST, on top of a shelf next to me.  8 years later I was replacing the same light bulbs and found it absolutely covered in dust.  I was tickled.

Ironically I ended up doing a trade with a Multitool.org forum member and it ended up getting lost/stolen in the mail and now it's gone again.  Maybe it will show up in 7 more years :)

My tools are my prized possessions and I very rarely even misplace them, even when others borrow them I almost always keep track of them and get them back.

Also ironically, I have lost 2 PST's and I can't remember ever losing any other tool, it's just too small I guess.  I suppose it's almost impossible to lose something like a Surge, once you put it down you feel light on your feet.

:)

Bloody marines... He's hauling my Ti right now. If he manages to lose that too, I'll officially prohibit any coming closer than 10 yards of any tool of mine. :D

Does lost in the post before you get them count?

If it does then I've lost three.

If not - none.
I used to come here a lot.

I misplaced a particularly poor knock off PST replica soon after I bought it. I could probably have found it if I had looked hard enough but I didn't like the tool so I didn't bother. Found it again by accident years later and promptly lost it again - best thing to do with it really.

Never lost a MT but I have had 2 knives (disappear / stolen) both of them was at the same duty station Ft Lewis WA.

I tucked one under the dash board of the jeep and it was gone next time I looked for it and the other was a Western lockback that I bought at a flea market.

We were cleaning our weapons and I left it on the table and walked away when I came back a few minutes later, it was gone. :ahhh

The only one I can think of was a cheap Chinese thing that I lost in a cinema.  Nothing suspicious, I really think it just fell out of my bag.  The good news was that I then decided to go buy my first decent MT, my Supertool.

I'm lucky that I rarely lose things, definitely not a decent tool thus far. I am really quite anal about all things being put back where they belong (much to my OHs annoyance), but it tends to keep things in my possession  :)
