Is this what the TTi sale was all about?

Having never handled one of these I'm relying on Ben to bring his to the meet-up.  I've never needed any convincing that these are great knives, the price however is another matter.  Glad you like it though.  :)

Did you get the box and card with it MB?  I'm keen to know the date it was made as it looks like it could be an oldie one.  :)

No box or card Ben, but I'd love to know when it was made too. The blade has the number 2 freehand engraved near the pivot hole if that means anything to anybody? Overall condition is very good especially the blade  :salute:

Damn, I read something about numbers on blades.   Definitely an older one that's for sure.  :tu:

Is there anything written on the Ti scales?

OK I've had a dig around and I hope this helps.

That number 2 on the blade does indicate it's an older Sebbie as the newer ones with the S30V blade all have an "S" stamped on them.  At a guess, I would say that 2 is possibly to indicate it has a BG42 steel blade which makes it after 1996 ish.

In theory the scales should be marked somehow.  The older, original Sebbies all had "H" for handmade on the scale and the early machined ones all were marked with "P".  These letter markings were put next to the CR logo and it appears yours doesn't have that.  Hopefully you'll have a number inside the scales that will give a clue as to it's age. You won't however get it accurately as the scale date isn't necessarily the date it was made but it does give you a general idea.  Sadly the only way to get an accurate age is with the missing card.

Hmmm, that's odd.  I am sure you have done, but you will have to take it apart to be able to see them easily.

I'll see what else I can find.

Yeah, I have taken it apart ( of course  :D ). Nothing there. Oh it's exciting this detective work  :) I have made some enquiries over on blade forums too, I 'll let you know the outcome.

Well apparently I have a pre '96 model with ATS34 blade, which is a good thing they tell me. I have mailed Chris Reeve too.

There goes my "2" theory then.  :D  I also read that pre 96 sebbies were all marked H or P as well.   Guess that was a load of old cack.  :D

Glad you found out mate.  :)

You are going to use it aren't you?  :pok:

Use that Sebbie!!!! It truly is one of the best folding knives ever made. I bought a BG-42 large classic Sebenza many years ago, and it has consistently been in my "Top 5" ever since. My tastes in tactical folders have changes many times over the years, but I've never fallen out of love with the Sebenza. It is a masterpiece of tool creation.
