Well, on the wonderful website which is packed with info, it has a "High Carbon Stainless steel blade"...that's why I asked about carbon earlier...

Well, on the website which is packed with info, it has a "High Carbon Stainless steel blade"...that's why I asked about carbon earlier...

I wonder if it uses steel similar to what Schrade used to use.

I don't like the sound of that. When manufacturers say that they usually mean 420 stainless.

I've no experience with Bear knives, only Bear multitools :-\

as far as I know, the 4th gen knives use:

I own a bear knife, in fact it was my first knife when I was 8 or 9.  Quality is pretty good, but the customer service is iffy at best.  They kept my knife for 6 weeks, for a scale replacement, and then wouldn't send it back unless I sent them more money, which was not the original agreement.  They finally sent it back without the money, but it took many emails.
