The bad thing about earthquakes is usually by the time you react, it's over... I experienced a few lighter one in Quebec years ago, and we were pretty close to the epicenter... lots of stuff falling off shelves and the like... by the time we got outside, it was over... pretty freaky tho.

some info:
1988 Magnitude: 6.0
Saguenay region, QC / November / Felt in a 1,000-km radius from epicentre. Damage at Jonquière, Chicoutimi, La Baie, Québec and as far away as Montréal.

map: http://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/res/em/nh/eq/eq-m2-eng.aspx
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

I hope everything's OK,and that damge and injury is minimal.I've wondering where and when a big one would be coming. There'd been minor quakes and tremors for a month or so in the US,including places that don't experience those things..Gallipolis,Ohio  Roanoke,Virginia, and a small town in Texas.

Angel, if that's any comfort, I've lived 12 years in two of the most "quaky" regions of Greece, which is in itself a quite "quaky" place, being situated over the Anatolian rift. We had at least a couple major ones every year and a couple of minor ones every other week (or every day for a couple of weeks, after a major one). No big deal. :D

I guess we Brits should think ourselves lucky. There was a 3.0 one in South Wales yesterday and that's the biggest one they have had since 1975!

A cold, rigid place that won't shake up a bit? Where's the fun in that? ???

You should visit the Greek islands some time. When you do, keep in mind that they are just the mountain tops of what was left when the rest of the Aegean basin went underwater some 6-8k years ago... :D
