Not any that I recall. If the atmosphere gets weird I just leave.

Well I nearly banned myself from here

Other than that I nearly got banned from a Bushcraft site as some people on there were bitching about some cops who were only doing their jobs.  I waded in and spoke my mind and upset the "pack attack"....(don't go there often now especially as some of them started to put "ACAB" in their sigs   :twak:)

Anyone else...

Even without knowing Nick here I hate that attitude.  >:(  Frankly it is just another form of bigotry that the world could really do without.

Back on topic; I've never been banned from a forum, I'm just to nice.

What's ACAB?

I hate to say this but depends on the place cops doesn't always have the best of reputation. Here a while ago they lied to the judge to get a house search warrant, then got swat to kick down the door at 5 AM even thou the search warrant tells them to knock on the door after 7. One cop ended up getting killed by the homeowner thinking it's a home invasion. Then there's the RCMP tasered a guy to death at airport less than a minute after arriving, then lied throughout the inquiry to cover themselves. Just two days ago the commissioner uncovered even more evidence of cover up and he publicly said he's really pissed at RCMP.

For every cop hater out there I must say this.....when the brown smelly stuff hits the oscillating air mover, 99.99999% of them hit 999/911 and cry for the police.

Sorry, back to topic..

(apologies for hijacking the thread....don't want to get banned)

I've come up with a new one:

PWPACADITSAIBPWSEGUOBO

It stands for:

People who put ACAD in their sigs are immature, bigoted pillocks who should either grow up or b*gger off.
Is it a bit long do you think?

This is the longest I have been on a single forum. I belong to an ATV forum but it closed down so in my feable searching found this place. I do belong to a couple others but just visit them rarely. This is the most interaction ive had on a forum.

So to answer the question nope never been banned.

Even if you get banned from a place...how hard is it really to recreate a new account and sneak back in? >:D

If this place gave everyone banning powers there would be a ton of bandwith here! People would be knocking people off like Lord of the flies here. and noone would be safe.

It's not hard to be honest, although some forums will ban a whole range of IP addresses to keep someone out.  We have had issues before with banned people coming back, and to be honest it's not usually hard to spot them again.  Usually, unless what they did was significantly bad, I'll pretend I don't recognize them until they become an issue again, which they invariably do.

Are you kidding?  We get a lot of them... they come in waves usually.

This might have been before your time, but at one point we actually had a SPAM forum, where we moved a lot of the spam threads to, removed the links and email addresses and let members rip into them!

Oh the good old days....

I almost got banned from 2 forums: USN and EDCF
Well, USN loves to ban people for every chickensmurf reason known to mankind.

And EDCF since I didn't have "HATE MAXPEDITION" as my soul's default setting.

Sad really. I supported both forums, have their t-shirts-hats-patches(I even earned the coveted USN Badge).  And when I started gtting emails from all Mods threatening to ban me.  My responce was:"fine!!  Ban my a$$ then!!  I quit!!" >:( >:(

THen I proceeded to remove and throw out all patches, t-shirts and hats.  I'm still waiting from USN(3 years now) for the snail mail addy s I can mail back my badge that I chopped in half >:(

Therre was a time not to long ago where there was spam everywhere...then the board software was upgraded and the spam got cooked.

If there is any spam getting in now it must get deleted pretty quick since I never see any.

But when I see a locked thread I read it right away, dose anyone else do that or am I the only one.

I have thought about making up a new account on KF and picking a fight with myself for fun, BUT since Def’s post about IP addresses I think that might be a bad idea, maybe I’ll try BF never been on there.

Depends on the forum, some lock threads for ridiculous small reasons I'd know why by just looking at thread title and who's the mod that made the last post.

I got a warning, but not a ban from British Blades for recounting something the SAS guys said to Maggie Thatcher after the Iranian Embassy siege.

After the assault they all assembled at a barracks to celebrate the successful mission (and get drunk) when Maggie & Dennis Thatcher walked in to congratulate them.
At one point the tv news repeats the news footage, everyone is trying to see the tv, and John McAleese (he's the retired SAS guy you see on a lot of tv shows now, has a big tash) shouted to someone down in front "move your f**king head out of the way", it turned out to be Maggie herself  :D

Anyway, I got a warning for quoting the "f**king"  Mind I used the stars to censor just as it appears here, but that was enough for a warning  ::)

I like to keep this place family friendly, but using bad language is a part of life when you have a bunch of guys together talking, and the occasional (hinted at) f-bomb is still a heck of a lot less than what a kid is going to hear around the campfire or in the garage.  I don't tend to get too upset about that- if I did, I'd be a f**king hypocrite.... :P

I never had any problems on other forums. I really only lurk around some other ones. But on one forum I go to I spent allot of time on one thread. I had to scan allot of stuff and then post it to photobucket. Then write up the post. So I do all that and post it in the general section. I go back the next day and couldn't find the thread at all. After some time going through the site I find that the tread is moved to a subforum that really no one gos in. There was no notice from any of the mods of anything. I didn't understand. This forum as some pretty heavy handed mods so I just left it alone and moved on.

Wow, it sounds as if there are a lot of power-tripping mods on all these other forums. Do you suppose they just like to massage their egos? Or do they just like being The Man? ::)  Pretty sad really. By what you guys are saying this seems more like the rule than the exception. :P
